People quoting calorific or SI equivalent content of foods ... without quoting the mass involved = pretty meaning less. Don't get me started on 'serving size'.

I've just sacked my dietician. 1 hour and then 40 mins late for the first two appointments ... first one was late morning but the second one was their second for the day!

I've just switched to diet tonic water in my G&Ts and I feel most virtuous.

Talking about Maccas, I heard a story about a former Socceroo who was playing in the EPL, after a big night out he went for some Maccas. His order was taking some time and the server apologised for the wait, which he replied, don't worry luv, you'll lose it one day.

Have just booked some HBA-ADL-HBA flights with Virgin. Ads on several web pages I've visited today now feature Virgin fares HBA-ADL and ADL-HBA. How about that.

Do the airlines have a calorie reckoner for their lounge fare?

Big Mac + Mc chicken burger + large fries and diet coke = 1400 Cal
Was an interesting study a few years back that quantified why drinking normal coke rather than diet with Big Macs was much better for you since the extra sugar improved the metabolism of the fats.:)

Saccharin/aspartame?
The thing with fats is that you feel fuller faster than with carbs. And for longer.

So $1800 JBHIFI priced white good to purchase.
It's not on the floor and has to be ordered in.
Potential 4 week wait.

What discount could\should aim for this product?

Told not floor stock less room to move?
Supposedly recently discounted.

Checked around and Appliance Online the price went UP???? in last week(but that does include delivery)

In the good cop/ bad cop movies the good cop offers coffee with loads of sugar to the withdrawing heroi_ addict. Apparently a sugar hit somewhat ameliorates the withdrawal symptoms???? Fact or fiction?

I have no idea about that.

I recall watching a very early series of The Biggest Loser (then my common sense reasserted itself) They had Dr John Tickell on giving dietary advice. The contestants were running laps on a beach in Qld dragging a tyre tied to their waist. Trying to go flat out and looking like they were going to cark it! They did x number of laps then stopped, and were offered a choice of various 'forbidden' foods which peviously they would have wolfed down like, potato chips, chocolate, coke etc. I recall one bloke chose potato chips and the good Doc said - well if you have those you will have to do another five laps.to burn off the calories. He had a lightbulb moment & said - well it's not worth it. I thought it was a really understandable way of helping the contestants 'get' the link between food and exercise.

The first guy who won, despite getting to a healthy weight still had to get his excess skin cut off because he lost the weight quickly.

I have heard they advise to not lose more then half kilo a week. For people that are obese or worse, will their skin shrink if they lose the weight slowly?

RooFlyer, as a word of caution, and this is not meant to be a bubble bursting comment, watch the aspartame intake if you are pre-diabetic or diabetic. It is implicated in diabetic retinopathy complications in your eyes. I.e. Loss of vision.

On the topic of overeating, when we were on the small plane shuttling between safari lodges, we dropped off a couple at one airstrip and were picking up another couple. The departing couple were in the front 2 seats and when the new people got on the wife could get down the front from the small rear door but the husband was so big, OK he was fat, and there was no way he was ever going to be able to fit. He ended up clambering in through the pilot's door. The bit we noticed though was that he collected a bottle of water and 3 packets of chips from the esky at the back (for passengers refreshments) to tide him over on the flight.

But how can you drink the diet stuff? It tastes feral to me.
I'll be not virtuous and stick with the sweet stuff. We've moved to Cascade tonic water and it has a lovely flavour.
I'm sure someone is selling Enhanced Activated Diet Water these days?

But he needs to eat. ;) you see. Pretty sure most would like to tuck into chips but only some decide to do so.

We try to feel hungry for at least part of the day.

Righto, thanks, good to know. No bubbles bust; even more reason to leave out the tonic water altogether and go for straight gin :-)

Thinking about it, after my dietitian told me to lay off apples, peaches, apricots etc etc, also asparagus, peas, beetroot and-so-bloody-on, I think straight gin will be forming a larger and larger part of my diet.

Thats the spirit!

(HVR and JessT, this is not an invitation to do your pun thing! :p )
