Use Chrome as a browser and install the Chrome plugins for Ghostery, FlashBlockPlus and NoScriptSuite Light in an attempt to limit data collection. Also turn on DoNotTrack in Chrome preferences.
Then you can selectively whitelist specific sites in the three plugins for sites you want to allow such as Qantas etc.
Also selectively delete your history and stored cookies periodical.

Thanks for this. Not long ago I made the switch from IE to Chrome, but went back again as I couldn't (easily) block cookies, as in IE, so I started getting ads for thing I'd just bought or looked at on-line. Not having that.

With IE, there is an easy setting where I get to accept or block cookies as they re introduced. I reject nearly all except when I want to do business with them and then for only as long as I need to. I can go in and see the cookies that I have blocked and those that are allowed, and I can release the block if I want or need to.

Is there not a setting in Chrome where I can specify the same thing?

What does Ghostery etc actually do?

Its overdue for the media to realise they need to just report on issues and not consider they are an integral part of the issue. Quality journalism no longer exists.
Reminds me of 'Drop the dead donkey'. A satirical British TV show about a fictional news program.

Anybody know if the flu vaccine is at the GP's yet?

Saw it advertised in our practice this morning. Also in the pharmac_.

Seems I can now get it for free as I qualify under the 'compromised' banner. I said to my GP he would be glad to be rid of me, and his response was 'well, you are at the higher end of the medical challenges ladder and it is actually very interesting watching the issues unfold'. Gulp. Three months ago I was perfectly fit and healthy.

I made hamburgers tonight, but no hamburger buns, or rolls, or bread product of any type in the house... so off to the supermarket I go.

This living frugally thing really isn't good for me.

Yes, best have the vaccination. If you get a dose of the flu you won't be flying anywhere.

We are getting into tech support now. But it blocks tracking sites etc. GIYF.

Flu vaccine free, $80 GP fee.:)

Sorry! Didn't mean to reply to my own post.

Gotta take my parents for their shots tomorrow. My mother's osteoarthritis in her knee has flared up, so she wanted to know if if the vaccine was out so we could combine the trip with both their jabs.

Sounds like a fun day planned then.

Kidnapping charges in Lebanon. Could it get any worse?
Shame our Consulate has to help out.

Aussie Taxpayers footing the bill for corporate stupidity. Does it get any worse? 60 Minutes should be billed by the Australian Government for their time and costs.
