Just wondering about US tipping culture...when flying on US airlines, domestically or internationally, do cabin crew expect tips when they provide customers food/drinks or service?

It's a no. Or at least that is my understanding.

In the UK I wear TM Lewin / Charles Tyrwhitt shirts. Good value (Around £20-£25 for non-iron when on special)
In Australia I generally bought Van Heuson from Myer, but thought they were pretty exy really. I'd usually wait for sales and buy shirts in bulk

Of note, I recently tore a pocket on a TM Lewin shirt through regular use (retrieving something from pocket). I believe it was the first time I wore that shirt, but could be mistaken as I have around 15 shirts in rotation and often spare ones in packets.

Complained to TM Lewin via email attaching photos, they offered me a replacement for free, including shipping. No need to return the shirt. Sadly I'm struggling to find a replacement as I hate shirts with no pockets, and TM Lewin have moved to them for most of their shirts now. (Charles Tyrwhitt allows a pocket to be added for a fee btw - £6.95!!!! - around 25% of the cost of the shirt without a pocket)

Little wins: getting on an earlier flight despite a super restrictive ticket.

Means an extra hour of sleep for me tonight. :)

Being nice and empathetic isn't just good for your karma, it pays off at times.

Learnt today that Learner Drivers no longer have a driving test or need to learn from a registered trainer to get their P licence. Simply have a log book of 75 hours signed off eg by licensed parent, have L for 12 months and you are good for a P.
Edited:
(Maybe jury is out on this?)

Yesterday I learnt about transient synovitis, after BabyGM woke up and discovered she couldn't crawl/move without a lot of pain. Scary. Thankfully nothing some doctorly advice, panadol, nurofen, and patience can't fix. Couple days and she should be good as new.

I don't think I've told people here for a while how much I hate cancer but it is following me around like a stray...

Just had a phone call from my best friend who lives in MEL. One of our mutual friends in MEL (aged early 50's) who got late onset Leukaemia had a bone marrow transplant (but it failed) and now the follow up Chemo has similarly failed. She's not going to have further treatment and has been given a month to live.

Fortunately for me, I have a trip planned to MEL for early next week and I have a late flight home, so I will make the effort to see her on my way back to the airport (she's at Essendon).

I HATE *@#$^%&* CANCER :evil::evil:

I hate it with a passion

Well this post could go in the TV thread or the Cat thread or even here, so here I go.

ALF has died and the cats of the world are now safe.

Well not ALF but the actor who wore the suit has died.

I also found out today that little bloke who played in Gangnam Style " little Psy" died from brain cancer !

Had to get into DrGoogle just to look that one up GarrettM. Good as new is a really good concept when it comes to children.

Oddly common, just need to ensure that child stays/looks well, as the other main options are pretty serious- Osteomyeltitis and Septic arthritis. No tests need be done though, so sounds like you may have found an OK GP!

So are you a poster who hasn't read the article you're linking to?
What I find frustrating on many sites including AFF is the large numbers of links posted with no explanation other than the headline.

Surely if the article was really any good and you had actually read it then a precis of the information is essential?

On June 4, the satirical news site the Science Post published a block of "lorem ipsum" text under a frightening headline: "Study: 70% of Facebook users only read the headline of science stories before commenting."

Nearly 46,000 people shared the post, some of them quite earnestly - an inadvertent example, perhaps, of life imitating comedy.

Now, as if it needed further proof, the satirical headline's been validated once again: According to a new study by computer scientists at Columbia University and the French National Institute, 59 percent of links shared on social media have never actually been clicked: In other words, most people appear to retweet news without ever reading it

6 in 10 of links shared on social media have never been read

Yep. Posts with just a link that take you to a site for a nanosecond then flick to coughter - helper or some such thing.

I am feeling SOOO much better now.

I can thoroughly recommend the health benefits of the Q survey on the QFF rewards vs VelocityFF.

Just so cathartic.

2016 06 Q survey.jpg
In the last fortnight I had the joy of (unfortunately) using up nearly the last of some Avios points, Qff and VFF points for international redemptions.

The BA/Q were for multiple seats on the same flight at the same time (operated by BA). BA charged exactly 40% in Avios what Q did in QFFs. As it was a BA flight there were not the huge add-on cash costs that stopped me redeeming for domestic flights or Q flights generally.

The VFF booking (to beat the new Q-like EY enhancements) went off without a hitch. Total cash cost per passenger in J for one-way to MUC was under $100 in 'taxes' and $30 service fee.

Needless to say (but I will anyway) I made many long and detailed comments in the boxes so thoughtfully provided with the survey.

It was almost as good as an unexpected tax refund!

What happens when I go offline while travelling in the LOTFAP??
I have 6 pages to catch up on
Seen many sights over the past few weeks but none as strange as this one

Felicia and I were dining in We-Ho and discovered that we were right beside the opening night of LA Pride. Decided to line up and go in for a few drinks and a dance (as you do). Most fun I've had in ages !!!
