Yep - we spent a month in Sri Lanka in 1985 - in the middle of the civil war - adopting our son. He and MrP went back on his 21st birthday. They bought me back a beautiful Ceylon sapphire ring.

Dame (Love_the_life) and I are back on the QM2 in April with a port stop in Colombo. Just time to go into the World Trade Centre and supplement.

MrP and I will be going back for a longer visit in the next couple of years.
Sadly it will only be a day stop here so no time to check out the great places to stay. Maybe a little shopping though :)

Plenty of time for that. The walk along the port side is lovely, and will be nice to do it without the soldiers and the rifles, which were everywhere last time.
The Trade Center has lots of jewellery shops and maybe Milboo can add her advice.

I stayed in Long Beach last night, just up from the QM which is moored as a permanent tourist attraction.

Typical. mytax is not working

Must use same developers/hosters as NAB.

Oh, it is the last day of the Financial Year. We did not anticipate the demand for services.

Oh, it is the first day you can lodge your tax return. We did not anticipate the demand for services.

Why is it so difficult to spend another 35,500 points to change an existing SYD-MEL-KUL award from economy to business. Need to change the date of the trip so may as well upgrade to business?

Simple right?

Although I'm guessing that NAB are blaming Telstra ;)

A Tesla first-
The first known death caused by a self-driving car was disclosed by Tesla Motors on Thursday evening, a development that is sure to cause consumers to second-guess the trust they put in the booming autonomous vehicle industry.
Against a bright spring sky, the car’s sensors system failed to distinguish a large white 18-wheel truck and trailer crossing the highway, Tesla said. The car attempted to drive full speed under the trailer

But wait there's more. The truck drivers version-
Frank Baressi, 62, the driver of the truck, said the Tesla driver was “playing Harry Potter on the TV screen” at the time of the crash and driving so quickly that “he went so fast through my trailer I didn’t see him.”
“It was still playing when he died and snapped a telephone pole a quarter mile down the road,” Mr Baressi told The Associated Press.
He acknowledged he couldn’t see the movie, only heard it.

So AirBNB requires users to upload pics of their "Government ID" to verify humanness when booking accommodation. The fact they already store my CC details is bad enough. Not super enthused by this development.

Related note: we've booked our Tokyo accommodation for next year's adventures in Japan.

Sadly I can't as I shopped in Galle - we only overnighted in Colombo in the end which was a shame.
