[Boast] Can I just say that there are currently 20 peaches hiding under this 40cm high miniature peach tree on my deck? :) Down from 35, as I have been thinning them out as they grow. I reckon I'll get 15 by maturity. [/Boast]

Final tally was 15 full sized, juicy peaches and 5 which had to be picked a bit early to let the others grow. After my utter failure with 'deck strawberries' last year, going 5 steps to pick a peach off the deck this summer was fantastic. Harvesting limes and lemons for G&T all the time. The mandarins are all picked and new crop on the way. I got an orange tree for Christmas. :)

My father once got stuck in our spa bath as it was quite deep and he didn't have the strength to push himself upright. My usual method of kneeling and then standing up didn't work as he had very bad arthritic knees (not sure if they had been replaced by then) and so he couldn't kneel at all. My mother was summoned and somehow managed to wrangle him out of the bath. I was spared this operation mercifully.

Actually the woman in the bath and the DIY beauty concept reminds me of an hilarious incident many years ago when my SIL decided to do her own waxing. In order to get it done quickly she applied wax to both underarms, legs and bikini line at the same time. Unfortunately when she came to removing the strips, the wax under her arms had set solid and she wasn't able to bend them to reach anywhere to rip off the strips. From memory she had to get in a hot shower to try and melt it again. It created much hilarity :)

I think most women would have a horror beauty story. Friend burnt herself badly by applying very, very hot wax.

I tried a new home wax thingy a year or so ago and it just didnt seem to work and my husband heard me complaining and I said look, it doesnt work. I put the wax on his leg, applied strip and removed... thinking nothing would happen but it removed a big strip of hair off his leg. Opps :) It works just fine. Hubby was not happy.

I cannot imagine how a 13yr ends up this out of control, uneducated, violent, self entitled. Her parents F'd up big time in raising this nightmare and she'll be an adult in 5yrs time. (Video at bottom of story).

I like the older, balding guy in the exit row, he didnt even move while everyone else is crowding to film it.

‘Cash me outside, howbow dah’ meme returns: Danielle Bregoli, 13, kicked off flight | Video

I like the conclusion over at OMAAT about this-
Danielle, her mom, and the other passenger have all been banned from Spirit for life, which is sort of sad, because it means they’ll soon be flying other airlines as well.

After reading the story I feel watching the video, or exposing myself further to anything connected to it, will only make me dumber.

I don't want to be dumber.

Just got home from Sydney where we watched Bruce Springsteen last night. Unbelievable energy displayed by him. We are only "casual" listeners of his music but thoroughly enjoyed the night. Quite a few people on our SYD-PQQ flight had been to the concert.
Maybe I am naive but I have been surprised by the venom some peole are displaying with their political comments on today's various forums about the concert/Springsteen

Yes the political comments are just puerile. It is a concert not a political rally.Though in some ways I understand as the boss does make a lot of political comments.
What has amazed me in the last 48 hours are the political comments made about the Superbowl.Mostly because QB Brady is a known Trump supporter. But again for god's sake it is just a football/gridiron game.

Food for through Mr Trump. Because of your policies, will those people who were going to travel to America now more likely visit Europe or Asia. Actually, now that I consider that angle, great news for Euro-zone post GFC. This might help them out of their malaise.

By contrast, USA will stagnate. Go Trump :D

Some interesting numbers in this UN report ...

The numbers will be very interesting given the issues that the French, Germans, and others have had since that report was released. Doesn't look like it will be good though Paris tourism hit by militant attacks, strikes and floods - BBC News

Attacks by Islamist militants as well as strikes and floods have led to a big fall in tourism in Paris.

There were a million fewer visitors between January and June compared with the same period in 2015.

Paris welcomes 16 million visitors a year and is one of the world's top tourist destinations.

The drop is estimated to have cost about €750m (£644m) in lost revenue. One senior official described it as "an industrial disaster".

France relies heavily on tourism, which generates more than 7% of its annual GDP.

Hilarious how they link "floods and strikes" as a cause

Heat and more heat please. Too old for the colder climate....

It's the extremes we are getting. 48 hours ago the max was 22 and very wet.

Some good news love_the_life. Date wise it's 2 months til we are onboard QM2 again.

Just back from a day trip to Melbourne. Luggage obtained everything but the kitchen sink. Used those vacuum bags to take over sheets and our own blankets. They are fabulous. And used them in the apartment to pack away the supplied ones.
