And now have another black toe - and I didn't do that much walking. This one isn't under the nail but bruised on the toe.

Did the other one heal or now you have several?:(

Oh that will take a few months. It's the full depth of the nail and 2/3 width. I suspect if no shellac you will see it. But it's flipping ugly without shellac. I'll email a pic. Too fugly to post here :o. This new one is more of a traditional bruise.

We have a house, shack and investment apartment. Power now gone in 2 out of 3. SA Power sucks. It isn't windy or stormy just hot.

It's load shedding due to inadequate network capacity.

So in effect it's increased demand caused by the heat.

Yes apparently load shedding. Which now means we have to dump contents of fridge in shack as we won't know if food was spoiled or not, and house would have been really hot as it's a fibro.

My favourite saying for February is by the current Perth City Council Lord Mayor.
"I don't stay in trash" when explaining her request for five star hotel accommodation.
Lisa Scaffidi is currently at a SAT hearing and it may/may not be going too well.
I am thinking she might be called a "high maintenance person".

Bummer about the food Pushka, may I offer a tip for future?:

Grab a small clear plastic bottle. I use the one of the little water ones QF sometimes hand out because of the squared edges.

Half fill it with water and put it in the freezer.

When frozen places the bottle on its side in the freezer.

Following a power outage if the ice has melted, or has refrozen to be "sideways" in the bottle you know you need to ditch the food.

If the ice stayed frozen, chances are the food was too!

It would have been lucky to get to 20 degC here today. Not quite cold enough to light the wood heater but enough to consider a thicker shirt.

At the moment I am not considering wandering (east)

If your freezer is not full, you can load up the empty spaces with bottles filled with water. The more space taken up by frozen water bottles will slow down any defrosting.

Better: take a small container even egg cup but preferably transparent, fill with water, freeze overnight then place a coin the surface. If the coin has sunk, the freezer has thawed and food should be suspect.

I remember telling my husband that we were staying at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and my husband was OK with the choice and said, "I dont mind roughing it".

I still remind him of the trip to Albury where we stayed at a caravan park.

Yes - we did do similar with ice cubes when the fridge was more stocked when the kids were young. If the ice was flat the food was chucked away.
Some good ideas here.

Apparently 40,000 homes blacked out yesterday for load shedding. Why? We were only producing 2% of our energy needs. It wasn't windy enough!

Our stupid go it all renewable policy without backup when green doesn't work is killing us.

Love_the_life and I are sharing a room there for 2.5 nights in April. I think it was around $480 a night. Between us it's almost manageable. I'll grab the snacks off the plane so we can eat those instead of food.

I dont even what to try to remember how much it cost but we had a club room that overlooked the bay, beautiful room although I find the hotel a bit cold and meh.

Everyone should do it at least once, to get the pool.
