Love_the_life and I are sharing a room there for 2.5 nights in April. I think it was around $480 a night. Between us it's almost manageable. I'll grab the snacks off the plane so we can eat those instead of food.

Blasphemy! How could one goto Singers and not enjoy the hawker markets ;)

Depends on how hot it is. My days of sitting in a pool of sweat while eating have been replaced by airconditioning.
The best ones on Boat Quay have long gone.

Sigh. Mum offered to "come over tomorrow and tidy the house" because she "wants it to look like the photos". I'm quite capable of tidying, and it will never look like the photos given the photographer cleared out each room to take a photo then moved it all back again.... in hindsight we should have moved out before it was on the market so it could have been sold like a display home (and we could have avoided a lot of stress), but that would have involved actually being told before it was listed :-|

Hope the tidying goes well (and the open house is not too awful). I know what it's like.

Its just a matter of putting away a few things like clothes, wipe down the bathroom and vaccuum. Given we have people coming for dinner, it was always going to get tidied anyway. 3 more weeks.

Are you sure? Recently there was an AFF-get-together in Perth ...

Come on now, it is only remote if you are coming from New York City...

Your one night at the Marina Bay Sands would keep me almost a week in Singapore....
Maybe I should stick to worrying about airline status

Or should I simply go wandering

Fred

Dont remember how many different flavours my husband found in Kit Kats but we bought bags of the stuff home to give to friends. Every town/area have their own special flavour as well, so Hiroshima was citrus but Kyoto was cinnamon and green tea, Toyko was blueberry by memory.

There is a store at Tokyo station that stocks them from all over.

My boss liked the wasabi one.

I tried the Yuzu one recently and it was so good. Raspberry and champagne was nice too.

Plenty of great restaurants in Little India with air conditioning.

We're looking for digs in SIN in early Jan 2018 for three nights: Marina Bay Sands AU$2140 club room (only rates available are noncancellable nonrefundable pay now in full) vs a hotel called Vagabond in Little India $1045 (pay on arrival) - gets 4.5 blobs on Tripadvisor compared to MBS' 4 blobs. Given we'll spend most of our waking hours exploring SIN and very little time in our hotel, I wonder if the extra $1k is worth it.

Rather upscale from my normal "digs" in Singapore is the Perak Hotel on the edge of Little India. Considered boutique. Very clean and convenient to the modern city as well as Little India. Mrs WF would approve... And likely half the Vagabond in price. TripAdvisor puts in the "middle".

Happy wandering

Fred

The Vagabond is an SPG hotel-Tribute Portfolio.
I had just had a look at it for trip in December.
On Trip advisor a recent review is from John K.........from Michigan.

So we know exactly what that review would be like :p

Last night our 138 bed sits run under boarding house rules were all taken. I think 106 ml of rain in Perth caused that.
While Sydney cooks we are having issues with cars aquaplaning on our very wet roads.
