Yesterday was the lowest maximum temperature ever recorded in Perth in February. The max. was 17.4C - the average max. temperature for Feb. is 31.7C and the average min. temperature is 18.3C. So, the maximum yesterday was lower than the average minimum.

Along with this, yesterday was the second wettest day ever recorded here, for any month, - 112mm. The average monthly rainfall for all of February is 10mm. The yearly average is 727mm - so over 15% of our yearly rain in one day. I am just back from helping my daughter-in-law mop up water and move furniture from one of their bedrooms where some roof tiles were moved by the storms. And, my daughters partner has stayed home from work to fix a leak in their roof.

And at the Canberra weather station we're just ahead at 40.1 though it was 40.3 a little while ago :)
Hot wind doesn't help either.

Same here but cooler tomorrow. Front of house not air conditioned. Takes a while to heat up which it now has. Sleeping in lounge tonight.

Sydney. My husband tells me that the air con is NOT on and he wont put it on... I might spend the night in the office :)

Armrest fight in plane: Video of lawyers fighting is extraordinary | ‘You stupid woman’

The video shot by another flyer shows the man and woman rowing as the flight crew try to stop them
. Rowing?.

"a flight attendant asks if the pair are travelling together - and in unison they reply: 'No!'

This sparks laughter and clapping from those having to sit through the spectacle.

They could have used so many other (and better) words than rowing...arguing for example:

[h=2]row[SUP] 3[/SUP][/h] (rou)n.1. A noisy or quarrel or disturbance.
2. A loud noise.

intr.v. rowed, row·ing, rows
To take part in a noisy quarrel or disturbance.

Twas a funny video - both of them are tossers. #firstworldproblems

Walked in the house and it's 40.9 and rising... Sleeping in the office sounds like a good idea.

I went upstairs to our un-airconditioned room upstairs. Thank goodness hot air rises.

Highest temp we got to was just on 44 degrees - but highest apparent temp was nearly at 46.

First Friday night I've wanted to stay late in the office!

We have a Southerly going through which has brought the temps down to about 23.

Meanwhile in Perth our upstairs is about 20 to 22 degrees tonight. Our flooding rain has slowed down tonight but there are flood warnings around Northam so we are hoping everyone stays safe.

Southerly about 8.30/9pm last night was wonderful. Opened all the windows, cool breeze flowing through the house and a good night sleep.

Also a reminder why we are going to knock down this house and rebuild because we know what design will work better than the 70yr rat warren weatherboard we now have.

Starting to cool off in Adelaide too. Hard to believe the swings of 22 max and heavy rain on Monday then 2 days later it was 45.

Interesting take on the reason for Health Fund increases: pressure being put on Emergency patients to claim under the Private Health cover and not be treated for free.

And I can confirm this was exactly my experience last year. An official looking person came along with her paperwork telling me that if I went over to Private they would pay my $500 hospital visit gap (this was a plus for me) and I would get free TV and a newspaper. This was not long after admission for DVT and undergoing major tests and not really knowing what was happening to me.
