Have you picked a new place to live TV? I don't know much about Melbourne other than South Melbourne, Saint Kilda, Southbank and Heidelberg. I found Portsea recently. Rents in Melbourne don't seem to be quite as tough as Sydney but nothing as low as Perth right now.

Looking at pretty much everywhere at the moment. Rents aren't great, and finding somewhere that will take 2 dogs and a cat is significantly more difficult. At least until they change the law to say that landlords can't discriminate against pet owners.

We're crashing with bc's mum in the short term to get the rest of a deposit saved.

I covered the bases ...
While I would support either of the beverage choices, what Australian sport has bases?

Which is impossible for those who work in manual work.

Considering the average age of local farmers they might disagree with you on the retirement age... But then it seems a fair number are more concerned with making enough to live on while paying the Federal government as little as possible.

Happy wandering

Grant Hackett. According to a sporting friend he really dislikes it when his family say something publically about him.

As with the Ben Cousins tragedy, they should just leave him the F alone. Chasing him with cameras and microphones as he's leaving the cop chop is not going to help his state of mind at all. And his family talking to the media! Of course he doesn't like it. No wonder he's estranged (which again, won't be helping his mental health.

I was also appalled at The Age, hounding and interviewing the mother of the Bourke St Rampage killer when she had another son still in hospital and was clearly impaired. Disgusting.

I understand that the public is interested in these people, but it's base gutter journalism to take advantage of them when they are down. Do some phone interviews, take notes and publish a small column with a stock photo, don't torture the poor people.

You didn't push him out of bed for that? :p

House was open again today, at 1.30. Just had someone walk up to the front door and try to come in. Glad I locked the screen door. Asked if I could help and she says 'it says it's open'. Sorry but you missed it by an hour...
Just reading your posts has made me decide I am not downsizing for years and years! I just don't think I could cope with the selling bit!

I had to shift most of the furniture on the ground floor out of the way recently, when we changed the carpet, mostly by myself.

To think of moving, and needing to move all the furniture and junk, would fill me with dread.

Is that a concrete or sand wicket?

Looks like sand.

Just when we thought all the real estate drama was over, just had a random couple knock at the door. 8.30 on sunday evening! Asking a question about the side fence and whether it matches the Section 32. After trying to explain that the fence has been that way for 30 years and was exactly where it was meant to be (ie it matches the provided diagrams), I told them I wasnt the owner, that I just lived here, and they rapidly retreated. Very inappropriate, and I can only assume they are the buyer, but that doesnt excuse hassling us on a Sunday night.

Unbelievable. Is there a cooling off period or was it due for auction?

So sad, not much else to say, links on this page don't look good, not that any death can ever be ok. :( 37, that is way too young.

These words send a shiver down my spine "Police, who were called to Vickerman's Naremburn home on Sunday morning, said they were not treating the death as suspicious."

Whatever the reason for someone doing this, there are those left that have to deal with the consequences
