The totally off-topic thread

We've had a great time here but I had to step away a few times or argue with random strangers over their president.

I actually did get into it once and hubby keeps reminding me to just walk away.

Otherwise, except for security searching for my tampon string, it's been great.

Ummm. I think your husband is spot on. You are in another country and Trump was elected. Even non Trump supporters might take umbrage at a foreigner disparaging their President.

Especially when one's daughter (lives in Phoenix) will be happy to point out the President's perceived shortcomings on a daily basis.

It is unfortunate but we seem to live in societies where 50% of the population is unhappy whoever has the political "power".

Given that this thread is part of a aviation related site - I happen to think that the current laptop rules are a very subtle solution to the apparent overwhelming "success" of the Middle East carriers. And no obvious partisanship (ie flight restrictions - eg HKG-Australia bilateral) is found.

Happy wandering

I was in a restaurant where some 20 somethings from a very expensive college started thumping tables, yelling Trump, Trump and build that wall and intimidating other people.

I won't be silenced on that.

Well ok but you left that bit out. Even so you aren't in Australia. You have no protection if something went bad. Which it could have. You could have been portrayed as provocateur. In Australia - knock yourself out.

Allegations young Americans were chanting "Build that wall" on a cruise ship near Cancun the other day.

1st amendment protection is actually stronger.
Even my deeply democrat US judge friend cant believe 18C exists here in OZ.

2nd amendment however.....

The US constitution applies to everyone on US soil.

Criminals have same rights.

Immigration law on the other hand has been a grey area - the US Congress there has full authority to regulate immigration law. Except some US courts have sought to impose their version of the Constitution - AKA Trump vs courts in travel ban.

Probably just as well I haven't been on flights with WA politicians...
I would be suggesting that both Labour and Liberal WA members not vote to pass ANYTHING except
a minimum limit on GST allocations to the state and the inclusion of lottery income which is passed into any state government revenues in the overall calculation.

So yes, basically, if you can't have at least a nod to sources when allocating disbursements, you don't have a government and you can hold elections every three months until you do.
