The totally off-topic thread

Urrrgh. I think an animal - maybe a possum - has died in the wall cavity. One room is positively putrid. Funny thing is as it's next to our son's makeshift bedroom - his partner rang him and asked if he'd left a lot of laundry to be washed. THIS time he is innocent.

What's wrong with this thread only 4 posts today:!: (5 with this one)

Most of us are doing things other than sitting at a computer like what happens on Monday to Friday, some others are probably nursing hangovers, some probably went to the football and still others like me did some exercise.

Today I competed in the annual Bridge to Brisbane 10km run, for the past 10 months most Saturday's when not traveling I would get up at 6am and go and join others for a 5km run.

Today some of the practice helped and I was able finish the 10kms in 59 minutes, 4 minutes faster than last year, a friend of mine who finished 4 minutes slower than me last year, decided to get some coaching and when he wasn't traveling for work would get up at 4:30 to train for 1 hour most week day mornings, their finish time today was 49 minutes.

Sleep is more important to me, but 59 minutes was good my 2nd fastest time.

Bank holiday weekend here and 3 rare moments... 1) I'm actually in the UK for it 2) not working 3) the sun is out and no sign of rain!

In the mid south we only had some small hail, 3-4mm. Snow would have been good. Was still zero at 1pm.
Did it hail? Apparently we did have some snow flurries in Barton. It was certainly brisk. :) It was much warmer at 7.30 am when I went for a walk. The wind hadn't come up at that time. Didn't need a jacket. By the time I returned was starting to get colder.

Hope you find the deceased creature Pushka. I would imagine the odour doesn't really add to the home's ambience

Or the Eagles swooping over the Crows ;)

Alas, now it is time to settle in and watch the Spa F1 GP.

Meh. Missing lots of players including the captain and nothing riding on the game. Yawn.

OK I overhead a guy in full Melbourne Storm gear talking on his mobile the over day. So basically he is talking gossip with some friend when he mentions "yeah they reckon her fifth child looks like me".

Further listening it sounds like he impregnated a woman with 4 children and the 5th might be his but doesn't know and most of the people with pictures of the child, he has blocked on facebook and wants the friend to have a look. His baby mama and her partner are also being investing by child services.

At this point I am thinking the idiots just keep breeding.

Mmm now I wonder if I should donate my gametes to stop the idiocracy from coming.

I spent the day reading - Ready Player One - at lunchtime found out it is now a Stephen Spielberg movie due for release March 2018. Just finished it anyway.

If you haven't already done so you need to start thinking about your own house now.

Putting a lock on the cupboard under the sink where the caustic cleaning materials are kept.

Moving ornaments etc from coffee tables and other lower areas to higher shelves.

Look at freestanding shelves and imagine if she stood on the lowest shelf could she pull the whole lot down on her.

Walk around your whole house thinking about this one foot nothing powerhouse exploring every nook and cranny. You would be amazed at the changes you need to make.

There are a lot more things that others could also suggest but this is just the start for you
i understand that modern houses ( built in the last 10 years or so) have tamper proof power points, but you can buy plastic covers which plug into power points - cost very little and are a great safety device. Doesn't matter what you do you will have problems, you just try and cut down as many as you can.

My girls were ok - had a few accidents, but Master FM was a disaster, particularly round 3. I left the upright vacuum cleaner to answer the phone. He managed to turn it on and start vacuuming and vacuumed over the cord, so it became entwined in the brushes. Or stuck his fingers in the videoplayer slot so he could watch what was going on and then pressed eject - very squashed fingers.....

we had hail, then rain that turned into snow - quite big flakes - it was really pretty falling, but didn't stay on the ground. I think it was around 10 degrees in the morning, then dropped to -2 when the snow was falling and then got warmer again.
