Not sure that Centrelink and ATO would be much interested. Even if he is on benefits there is nothing to stop him having a hive and can still make some money if under the threshold. Think the two agencies have bigger fish to fry.
He has many beehives around Sydney in families and friends homes. But I see your point.

P.S. ATO keeps chasing me for provisional tax and I'm not exactly a big fish. They appear to chase easy targets.

I think most councils will agree that residents are entitled to live in their homes in peace.

Barking dogs, rules for that. Chickens and roosters, working on cars, drum kit ect, guidelines for that as well. I think its OK for a resident to contact their local council if they are unable to enjoy their yard because of a neighbours actions.

Which reminds me, I havent seen the neighbour and drummer boy have a Saturday night meltdown for a while, drummer boy may have given up.

When alive, my father in law had olive and blackberry trees around the area and he would wander off with his bucket and machete to harvest/maintain the trees.

We had to tell him to stop taking the machete for the trees he had near the local school up the road as we had visions of a lock down being activated.

Wonder what will happen with them, now that hes passed.

I'm still struggling to understand why someone's employment status has any relationship to having a beehive in the backyard!
Keep up Milboo, the scoundrel probably has fruit trees, grows his own veggies and keeps chooks as well - trading/bartering the produce with other bludgers to avoid income tax - or cuts to his government payments  The unemployed should not be allowed to do such things

Its been proven that home grown is often more expensive than store bought.

For tomatoes, home grown is better than store bought.

My mother in law is one of 8 siblings. They use to have tomato-wars every year, growing the most, best, biggest. Good times.

It's nature John.More likely to happen if they don't have a hive to go back to.Cant be banned as it would be pointless.

Running a beehive doesnt automatically mean its a business. And even if it is, its none of your business. Chickens are usually also allowed domestically.

Think my brother used a hose to spray water between garage and fence. Not sure if that's a good idea but did the trick.

Secondly follow up with council. As far as I'm aware the local member has asked council to deal with the issue.

If all above fail then Centrelink and ATO will be contacted.

Swarm of bees is unacceptable. Mum was terrified before my brother acted.
Im confused. What do Centrelink and ATO have to do with someone keeping bees?

We have fig trees and when in season, I cant give them away fast enough as there are so many.

Nearly died when I saw them for sale at Coles for $1 each.

Also gave away dozen and dozens of bags of mandarins and lemons this year.

I used to have two feijoa trees; the retail price in the supermarket seemed to be responsible to a lot of locals coming into my yard and stealing them by the bag full.

Ive been in the garage and hear the rattling of a plastic bag. Look up and there is someone leaning over the small fence, picking herbs and mangoes off the tree.

Last couple of seasons, hubby cleared the mango tree early because we were left with almost nothing by the raiders. Last year was about 14 buckets of mangoes so not expecting a big crop this year.

That’s a bit of a stretch. Anyone is entitled to have a hobby.
Is it still a hobby when you have multiple beehives around Sydney?

How about making beehives in your backyard and selling on the internet? Is that a hobby too? We don't need to constantly hear the grinding and hammering noises. Seriously. This is a residential area not industrial.

I bought my apartment as a hobby but I'm paying more than my fair share of tax and this "person" has never worked a day in Australia. Yep. I can see why people take his side. Let's not put down the chronic unemployed who are on bebefits but also run businesses from their backyards without paying tax. Entrepreneur?

As I posted earlier, my father in law has multiple fruiting trees all over the neighbourhood and he harvests the fruit from them.

What he did with it was his business, its not like he had a stand on the footpath selling them.
