Ah, so that's why people didn't want daylight savings

Daylight saving is simply a ploy to keep IT on its toes. Have it some years, not others, change the start date, change the end date, its all about keeping people emplyed to create patches.

Low humidity definitely helps with keeping things cooler. Perhaps I was in Perth at the right times rather than it being cooler...

Call me biased, but having travelled to quite a few places now I'd be happy to say that I do think Perth has one of the nicest all year round climates in the world.

Well I guess I should be happy then ;)

Now that you have extended trading hours in the "Tourist Precinct", perhaps Daylight Saving will eventually follow.

Then again - Queensland is in a similar situation, and they had extended trading hours years ago (about 10 from memory, with Sunday trading starting about 5 years ago).

And implementing work-arounds where software is no longer supported by the manufacturer!

That's my reasoning for not wanting a split time zone in Queensland - way too much complexity from an IT perspective for anyone who has staff in various cities.

There has been extended hours in the "tourist Precinct" for quite some time. It's just that recently they made the "tourist precinct" bigger.

The tourist precinct is defined by regulation, so if you can't get a law changed in parliament, you just change the regulations underneath!

Indeed! The funny thing was the first few weeks hardly anyone went out and hit the shops ..... why ? Lack of spreading the knowledge. Surprise surprise.

Lol - didn't know that. Perhaps in a few years that precinct will increase in size again. I remember being in Perth a few years ago and trying to find a couple of 6-packs on a Sunday afternoon for a BBQ. Had huge problems finding a pub that could sell them (or at least I recall that was the issue!).

If you barely recall, perhaps you already had too much!

Doh! Yeah the problem was that nobody would sell them to me rather than the places being closed ;)

Was completely sober at the time.

Yeh, not many pubs will do 'outside' sales. Where I live, there's plenty of bottleshops open on Sunday.... one of them is even open till 11pm! (not bad for Perth ;)).

I'd have to agree with you on that one.

It's basically just like Brisbane, except without the humidity.

And perhaps less rain - but that's debatable.

Just had my annual performance review - given a 7.8% pay rise this year (last year only 4%). Looks like the economy is heading in the right direction.

Nice work!
My performance review is due next week - hoping for similar results as yourself..

With all the talk of Pauline Hanson moving to the UK to live, I think I've found the perfect shop for her to buy and run:

Google Maps

Haha, nice find.

So, your shout?
