The totally off-topic thread

Oh seriously Dame. Who called who? Who booked first? Ahem.

But the information is correct. The Dames are off again on the QM2. Not until next April so we can bore you relentlessly until then.

A little bit different. Departing Singapore, then Penang, KL, Colombo, then hopping off in Dubai for me to give Dame the older a taste of the Middle East.

Flight to Singapore already booked - with points. Waiting for Emirates to open for flight home.
Well Dames you have talked us into it. We have just booked a Transatlantic on QM2 in October next year.

I noticed the extra features at the bottom of the page as well. In the Flybuys forum it was a 3D image of a ball and the user icons rotated around. I guess it is similar to the features we used to have at the bottom of the Vbulletin system where it said how many users were viewing the thread and listed similar threads.

Oh you totally needed no convincing. Details? Steerage? Get the gowns and tux ready!

That’s a good point. Are formula companies driving some kind of false consumer requirement here? If eating is well established and with healthy diet of all the food groups and lots of veggies and proteins there’s really no need for this.

I just noticed this at the bottom of the page. Is it a new feature?

Yes, just saw the avatars as well. Ah, there I am - found me. Interesting it is shown as users who have viewed the thread.
Keen to hear Straitman's cruise details too. :)

After almost six years with the Subaru, it's time to start thinking about a new vehicle. I would really like to get a dual cab ute, and up my ability to getaway for short fishing trips with or without the kayak.
But we're a one car family now and MrsGM doesn't like the idea of piloting anything too outrageously big.
Working out a suitable option may take some time.

Without going down the political discussion path was there anything written about how many former PMs or high ranking pollies would have failed the citizenship test that brought down Barnaby and co? I find it hard to believe that significant percentage of pollies weren't in a similar situation but probably didn't know and no one did the digging. I googled but couldn't find anything insightful.
Is it relevant? What’s gone in politics is gone.

There’s no excuse for the current lot, and particularly for Brandis’ appointed Solicitor General “advice”. Drover’s dog case.

It has been going on since the first Federal parliament.Google King O'Malley. An American who became a cabinet minister. He was elected from Tasmania.

Anyone else decorating for Halloween?

I only do it for 2 reasons. 1 so kids have a house they can go to and know they wont get knocked back or told off for participating in a US custom and 2, I support the concept of free chocolate.

I use to be bah humbug about it but then I saw kids in our street getting knocked back so now we decorate the front so they know we have goodies. This year we've even got skeletons coming out from the ground and tombstones and the usual lanterns and ghosts at the front. Nothing too scary as I dont enjoy that.

we don’t decorate but do get in lollies/chocolates “just in case”. Ms FM’s godmother is originally from the USA and she used to do a huge production about 20 years ago She would bulk buy large amounts of lollies distribute them around participating houses. Everyone would assemble at her house and around 100 children would be sent off in parties of 10 with accompanying adults and a map to show which houses to go to.

One year we were accosted by a lady holding a big bowl of lollies and upset because no-one was coming to her house! They were recently arrived from the States and she had seen the kids in costumes racing around, so had sent her husband out for goodies, but no one was knocking on the door. I explained the system and suggested she stand at the gate with her lollies instead :)

If we ever have any grandkids I might do some decorating.

Didn't Robert Menzies consider entering the UK parliament?

Crazy Adelaide weather. Thunder and hail storm 2 hours ago and just found this outside.

And 2 months ago a tree fell on son’s partners car (I posted on this on AFF wondering liability - it was covered by Insurance so they battled with house owners but she’s only just got it back). I think it’s fine. They are in Mel so not here to panic.

Wow that's really unusual for Adelaide - I love a good storm and sad I missed it. Only three more weeks and I'll be home again - can't believe this 6 months has gone really quickly

And the snowman was pretty good with the resources!!
