Well after not having any rain all summer (apart from .2 mm) we just got pelted with hail !

Shot some quick video earlier of the madness from up near my way in the northern suburbs:
YouTube - I can haz winter?

Bloody mental. The nearby shopping centre was evacuated, as part of its roof over one of the main areas was ripped open.

Hi thewinchester,

I am staying at my unit in St James and it is pi$%ing down. No power so I am on lappy batteries and the gutters are not handling it at all.

I hope it passes quickly as I would like to cook dinner.

I noticed as of today is JohnK’s fifth anniversary on AFF. To think, you’ve been here five years

Congrats JohnK,

PER T2 (QF) baggage claim at Carousel 1. The Worst has a photo:

Well, if it's any consolation, they've now got a bit of impetus to start building a real domestic airport now - Mother Nature has just saved them some funds on the wrecking bill!

Speaking of QF and unusual things happening, I wrote an interesting email to Qantas Club today. I wrote a 'complaint' telling them that the MEL lounge desk staff (in particular the T1 J Lounge desk staff, but with the exception of the T2 F Lounge staff) are consistently - as we express it curtly on this forum and on FT - dragons.

Although I'm not sure what kind of reply to expect, the observation from my experiences are true. I swear at times I can't get so much as a fake smile out of any of those ladies or gentlemen behind the counters.

I don't even try any more.

That long? I remember I was looking for ways to increase my SCs so instead of flying SYD-BKK direct I came up with a routing of SYD-BNE-SIN-BKK return (which almost cost the same as the direct flight) and wanted some advice. Still getting valuable advice today.

Damn, I spoke to JohnK about 30 mins ago, sorry I wasn't aware John. Congratulations.
Thanks Lindsay. Sorry for getting your flight dates confused.

Well I finally got power back, some 12 hours or so after it went out. Our 2 direct neighbours both had their garage + wine cellar flood, we were lucky in that ours ended up completely dry!

The office next door to mine lost their roof, too.

On Saturday, I finally got all frocked up and received my degrees!

It felt a little odd stepping on to the uni campus for one last time - uni now feels like a world away and I can't believe I've been working for 5 months already!
