I’m back in the airport again after an aborted Qatar flight last night. Now have to route through Melbourne. Oh well. There is the F lounge.

Why was it aborted? And what about your forwarding flights or bookings? Anything major that youre missing out on?

We lost flight Adl - Doh - Venice last night. Hotel in Venice charged us for tonight and threatened to cancel whole booking. I will slam them on Social Media if they do. They have our credit card. They know why we didn’t arrive. They know we are coming. Qatar put us in Hotel and taxi and food vouchers. New flights today. Lost a taxi booking in Venice plus a night/day there.

Oh and with winter coming, a PSA that the beanies with the hole on the top for your hair (pony tail, bun ect) was awesome to wear! I hate wearing beanies because of my hair but enjoyed wearing these ones I got for Scotland/will be taking to Iceland next year.

No, I didnt get that gene. My sister does, she knits and crochets. A lady once paid her $$$ to knit a christening gown, hat ect because she had a pattern since she was a kid and kept it for her child one day.

Depending on the kind of poles they have available as part of the hire package, you might be better off buying a set each so you know they are the right length and also practise using them as they need to be used correctly to be the most use. Don’t Silversea provide free boots? They did when we went. Bought our own waterproof pants as again needed to ensure a correct fit (and I had to take mine up).

It could be condensation but could also be a stain of some sort. It's like the shape of a squashed oval diagonally across the entire lens.

The alternative would be to replace the camera lens. I'm not sure that's a cheap option but I'll ask at the phone repair shop.

Ouch, Venice prices. Whats it to them if the room sits empty but paid for? We once left our paid room in China and went to the mountains for pandas overnight.

Does Bub play with your phone? And what sort of phone is it? ie, maybe pick up a 2nd hand one on ebay if its older. I sometimes sell our old phones on ebay and its surprising, some people just dont want to upgrade to new and want what they know.

Yes baby plays with phone along with everything else in her sight.

I still have a brand new S7 in the box.

Thanks for that - I think we will probably just hire - it is more cost effective to buy, but I have never used poles before (or felt the need), although maybe it is something to consider as I am getting older. I think I am OK on land but just worried ice being slippery. You can hire the gear through Silverseas and they will deliver to your cabin, which is quite attractive as well.

I have checked a little further re walking poles, they are Helinox brand, collapsed length is only 35cm & they weigh 150 grams each so very light & compact.

We were lucky in the sense of being WP in J we were quickly assisted. But there were so many others who wouldn’t have been attended to until 1am and later.

Also, there were at least 10 people in wheelchairs that were to be boarded. Some kind of record?

One of the huge benefits of status.

Had similar story in HKG a few years ago with a missed connection. There were 3 Platinum/Emeralds travelling business and we rushed to transfer desk and took a while to get sorted. The 30 or so people in economy were still in queue when we had finished after 20-30 minutes.

I did feel a sense of guilt at how the impact on us was handled as best as it might be. But Qatar at that time only had 2 people handling the whole plane. Hopefully more were brought in after we left. We got downstairs to a plane load full of luggage taken off the belt trying to find our case.
