Keep my updated with time and place and I will see what I can do to be there. Just nobody is allowed to laugh at my minimalist club "set", nor my strange technique :P . And if there is water involved, you have to allow me to throw the ball over once I have lost 2 consecutive shots into the drink.

Hmm, perhaps I would be better off just driving the buggy instead  .

Darn, my July is not looking good compared to yours. So far 1/2 July is the only weekend I can make if my Cathay adventure eventuates. :(

NM you and I should get on very well when it comes to this golf thing

One benefit of Vic Park is no water traps (unless they have snuck some in since I was last there - which is a while ago). Otherwise - do what I do and just throw 5 balls into the first pond and get the tax over with at the start.

As I said above - we need new rules for this match. Something like 'the most shots to a hole' could be a OWE, fewest a status run, scoring could be status credits (got to work on that one).

Something to work on.

I'm OK for pretty much anytime in July - I have semester break, no assignments, no exams (yipee) :D

Perhaps 10 points for a wedge shot, 15 points for a 9-iron, 20 points for a 8 iron and so on - after all, SC's are distance besed!

That way I could probably make Partner Gold by the seond hole, Lifetime Silver by the 9th, and Lifetime Gold is a certainty before the 19th tee.

OK you two, I give up.

This could be the beginning of the new golf game.

Let me know when you are on and I'll walk the course instead. I have more fun laughing at the "attempts at golf by the experts" than getting my frustration levels up and playing myself. :!:  8)

Is anyone keeping an eye on the cricket scores? Dizzy is on 186 not out at lunch. :? :? :?

In a normal world, that just wouldn't happen. The sky is falling...

........and just made 200.

WOW

Not sure about the sky falling BUT definately not normal :!:

So now we have another bowler who thinks he can bat   .

Well done Dizzy. Higest score by an Australian against Bangladesh, and first ever double ton by a night watchman. And he batted on all 4 days of play so far in the match.

And he still opened the bowling with Lee! I think he will be having a quiet ale tonight to help sooth the legs  .

Playing Nudgee, we could only play on the South Course. As my closest course, I've played on it a bit an might have an unfair advantage.
MetroAir said:
I thought we wanted a goat track?? Nudgee doesn't qualify.
wasn't actually suggesting Nudgee, just mentioning I'd played there ;).

Vic Park should be fine for me ...

Maybe look at late July - August?

Whoa, just finished catching up on the posts for the past week. I'll be in for a game of golf. July is good and for me to get to Vic Park, I go to the end of my street and turn right :P Don't worry about home course advantage, I won a set of clubs about 4 years ago and have used them about 4 times.

Mal.

So, we now have a good little group together:

JohnK
MetroAir
NM
cabbage74
Lindsay
straitman
serfty??

Any more takers??

and I hope I don't repeat the way I played today at St Lucia...well, 28 stableford points off a 20 handicap isn't fabulous :( ...

I propose a scratch event for the day. This will determine the best hacker amongst us. :D

Also a handicap event for the day calculated on most stableford points based on a handicap determined after the game using the callaway system. I need to know the par of the course we are playing so I can bring the relevant callaway handicap statistics.

May the best hacker win the inaugural AFF Golf Challenge.

I'm in for that - don't know the Callaway stableford points method, only the Clubs ;)

My social golf club handicap is 20 (same as my real handicap before I lapsed as a member of a real golf club).

Ummmm.....

As stated previously, my handicap is that I attempt to play.

I have no idea what you two (JohnK and Lindsay) are talking about.

Perhaps I will join NM in the bus, oops buggy, if this is going to be a serious game.

That makes 3.

 Note to the organisers............

I believe I said I'd walk the course which will save a lot of embarrassment. (mainly for me) :!:

There are discrepancies between handicaps when you play for different social clubs. My current club (AGU) handicap is 9 (was 5 not long ago), with one social club my handicap is 4 and with the other social club my handicap is +1.

All the Callaway system does is give you a handicap on the day based on the stroke score you shot. It is widely used for events where people do not have a handicap. You then apply your newly acquired handicap to your stroke score to determine the stableford points as if you were using a social club handicap or even a club (AGU) handicap.

No fear as I am a handicapper so no problems there as long as I know the par of the course.
