For the bookies, I wonder if they have to carry the bets to next week, or they return all bets, or they collect all bets (i.e. draw is a result for the match hence anyone that didn't tip a draw loses).

That's my understanding - a draw in the the other finals would be a bit problematic if not resolved on the day.

No, it cant. The GF is the only one subject to a replay. Quite rightly in my opinion, a point of difference to the Aussie game where a GF draw results in a rematch.

So the replay isn’t then referred to as the GF, it’s a replay of the GF, and not the same thing

The last grand final draw in the VFL/AFL was in 1977. In the same year there was also a draw in the Sydney rugby. Wonder if there could be a repeat this year as well?


Also, 1977 was the first year that the VFL grand final was televised live.

Now that would be spooky.
