Woo!

Those of you with BD G, is my current non-gold card OK to use to enter the lounge (as they can look up status) or do I need to get the new card?

Congrats!!

P.S. You better start searching for that 4,000 post thread ;)

Haha.

It's been a nice start to the week.. had a call from my (now potentially new) flat mate offering me a room I viewed last week, have had multiple recruiters calling me saying they're putting forward my CV and also found out I made BD *A Gold status.

Really. The raaf still has rotary wing pilots to be better than the army ones?
I did say RAAF pilots in a general sense but yes the RAAF does still have a few rotary pilots just no rotary aircraft.

The current Chief of Defence Force is a RAAF Helicopter pilot :!:

Very nice. Was this a comp request?

If fate has its way so far, you'll soon enough be a LH SEN before you get a chance to defend your newly bestowed status.

Like most - if not all - FFPs, for all sorts of services such as access to priority check-in, extra baggage allowance (*G benefit) and lounge access, you are expected to produce card with the relevant *G logo shown on it to access such benefits. The problem is not so bad at "home" stations and lounges (with "native" staff) as so much as "outposts" with outsourced staff (who tend to be more inflexible and "by the book"). With BD at LHR, I would like to think that there would be no problem at all explaining your story and them looking up your status for all relevant benefits.

In saying that, by rights in most cases it should be possible for either:
  • Your FFP number to be looked up in the system (or trial entered to see what is produced)
  • Log onto your account and produce a printout showing your status (possibly - never tried this before)
  • Use your BP which should show your *G status on it

Bah I hate lousy lighting in hotel rooms, I can't even see the keyboard without getting nose prints on the keys.

As for extortionate internet costs well that is a thread in inself.

Buy a computer in the future with a backlit keyboard? I know I miss my backlit keyboard :(

Or learn to touch type :)

If you had one of those geek keyboards which have no writing on the caps, you'd be in a similar situation except with no other choice! :p

Although I pretty much have a place sorted now, not being one to take a chance I'm still looking at others. I'm going to have a look at one tomorrow night and in it's postcode is "JQ". Is that a bad sign?:shock:

Well, when they quote your share of the rent, be sure to ask about the 'extra charges'.

Yes.... you must be weary of those rather odd suburbs.... I've heard similarly bad things in a district which starts with 'YQ'.... ;) :D

Thanks QF.

Have a domestic flight tonight. Am bored with the current city I'm in, and couldn't think of any more exciting things to do, so decided to head to the airport and see if I could get a better flight.

So I try QuickCheck. "Do you want an earlier flight"? I say yes (even though it's a non-flexible ticket). Up comes around 5 earlier flights to choose from. Select one. Quick-Check goes "Error" and to see the service desk.

So I try my card again. Up comes the message "Your flight has been changed due to operational requirements", and my earlier selected flight is now my flight. So seats selected, bag checked in and now Jlounging. I'll be home about 3 hours earlier.

Did you get a good seat for your rebooked flight?

I always harbour a fear that if I take an earlier flight then I won't get a good seat. If time was an issue and/or I was really tired, I probably wouldn't care...

Did you get a good seat for your rebooked flight?

Machine originally allocated a middle seat. Quickly changed that to an aisle with no passenger (currently) in the middle. Funnily enough it's the same row - just the other side... Oh and it's about the same seat I'd normally be allocated < 80 hours out if I booked...

So several matches could result in a draw and it could potentially run on forever and ever, weekend after weekend?
Wouldn't St Kilda love another chance? Should have won the grand final MKI but were never in the contest in grand final MKII. :( It could be a very long wait for another premiership. :-|

how can anyone not live without an iPhone
iPhone? Pfffttttt....

Spoken by someone who has no idea how much can be accomplished by/with an iPhone.

Before I got one I was one of the biggest sceptics around also.

But you are one of the smart ones, :) but then I was thinking of the amount of time I can waste on the Iphone as well.

An iphone-heck the fire and blanket are working perfectly well and so much cheaper.
