Hmm, John seems to have deleted his post.

On another topic, two qantas flights over the weekend. Both on time. That'd be karma for the repeated delays on all my QF travel this SC year (ends Oct 31). Looking back at my flights, i'd have about a 30% on time performance (plus one cancellation). All my non-QF flights were on time.

Thanks docjames for jinxing me, I had just finished reading your post and I get an SMS, one hour delay tonight ;)!

Knowing that its using the app is handy if you are trying to work out why there are three consecutive posts when a multiquote would have been batter, which I dont believe is a feature of the app.

I have multi-quoted in the app, it just takes some time as you need to post, then refresh, quote, copy/paste, edit, post and repeat :p

No, they just dont give a ****.
That is so true. I feel that we hand out licences way too easily. I guess these "morons" (for want of a better word) keep the economy turning over.

It is not your right to drive a car. I am sure people are still slipping $bills to bribe driving instructors sp they can get their licence. And we are such a tolerant society towards failure that we allow this practice to continue.

Somehow I think these 2 posts are referring to 2 different things.

Hmm, John seems to have deleted his post.
I have not deleted any posts. Post #9000 refers to useless drivers and a few posts later refer to people posting to AFF using AFF mobile and their iphone.

I think it is less that, and more that there is little policing of basic road rules these days. Outside policing by speed and red-light cameras, what chances do you have of being picked up for other things?

I guess you are right. There does not appear to be many highway patrol cars on the road these days.

There are stacks, you see them at every roadworks site in QLD ;). The highway patrol library for reading material must be huge, given their presence in camera vans and at roadworks! I wonder why they dont set up one of those automatic rego checking vans at such sites like they have in the UK and have a better chance of nabbing those unregistered travellers?

My brother in law has been picked up for heaps of other things. Mobile phone, u turn at lights (at 3am and only car on the road! Besides the cop. Oh and it was outside a police station.) But then this is all race related. :(

I employ a slight variation that avoids the refresh. Basically quote, select all, copy, cancel, quote (the next post), paste, select all, copy, cancel etc. Then edit at any stage. If that makes sense.
The AFF iPhone app by default has the 'signature' on. It is possible to turn it off, but you need to find the cleverly hidden settings ;)

Gee I wouldn't normal consider myself to be that clever. But I managed to turn it off. Just not clever enough to turn it back on. ;)

I am sure I couldn't get a licence to drive an iphone-there the 2 topics are now connected.:D

Which means we cannot discuss them anymore as we now are on-topic in the off-topic thread. ;)

I'm in the SilverKris Gold Lounge, which is the SQ operated SIN T3 lounge for Star Alliance Golds (*G are not allowed to use the nearby J lounge unless they are flying J). No showers here - what the hell.... I'd have to go to SIN T2 SATS premier lounge to get a shower...

Just came off my first SQ flight (SQ236 BNE-SIN) I'd taken in at least 10 years. Nothing related to SQ at all (unless they seem to attract this kind of clientele, but I highly doubt it), but it was full of some of the most pretentious group of pax I have ever seen. Now I don't mean the whole cabin, or even a block of pax, but usually the "problem" pax I count, even in Y around me, is limited to the fingers on my hands. This was just ridiculous. Crimes included:
  • Reclining during take-off and landing. I don't care if you're Michael Jordan and it hurts - if you paid for Y you sit in it, otherwise find another airline with Y that suits your height. Just because you're tall doesn't entitle you to break the rules.
  • Reclining during meal services. Ditto above point, but include those that just recline for the hell of it.
  • One pax didn't seem to want to get out of his aisle seat to let his wife out when she needed to use the bathroom. She ended up doing some interesting acrobatics and stepping over him, his seat and table (usually with obstacles including hot coffee, food, a G&T, etc.)...surprisingly not a single disaster!
  • One pax took a block of four seats that was free (after doors closed, not her allocated seat). Another pax for some reason decided to shift from his seat into the aisle seat of the block of four. She then asks the newly moved pax to please find another aisle seat to sit in because "I moved to this block of seats for myself".
  • A bunch of pretentious people making requests from the FAs. OK nothing wrong with that per se, but would it be too much to ask to treat FAs as human beings, and perhaps after that some "please" and "thank you" wouldn't hurt, either?
  • Usual rabble of idiots turning on their mobile devices before they were told to (I don't care we're on the ground, if the crew says no mobiles on, then keep them off, dammit!). Ditto those standing up before the seat belt sign is off. Put the two together and about 10% of the cabin is doing it. I silently wished that the plane jolted a bit forward so that some people would actually learn a lesson the hard way.

The only other thing on the flight some people would complain about were the crying babies, but I can live with that for most part. After all, it mostly can't be helped.

So true. What a waste of money (in the most part). No wonder QLD's budget is so bad. BTW, they've started setting up speed cameras in some construction zones (and are looking at implementing fixed cameras), so make sure you keep to the speed.

Don't worry. I believe they are being trialled right now. Coming to an intersection near you soon!

Thanks for the update, a mini trip report in a way, and your journey has only just begun, wait until you get to the US, it can get worse.

I believe that South Australia used these last summer to track know arsonists. Apparently they had a real campaign to track these people and then to actively follow them around so that they would know they were being watched. I think they might have even knocked on doors on high fire danger days. I can't remember all the details but I recall it sounding comprehensive.

A cool day in Darwin today as it's only about 28 deg. Ozbeachbabe, Rob and I have been off chasing Crocodiles and exploring places to visit for Oz Fest #8.

Heading back to town now to find markis10 and meet the lady from the Crowne Plaza with regard to accommodation options.

As you might be able to tell, I managed to find them. :p

Interesting, none of my posts have ever had the signature and I've never changed any settings in the app.

I am sure I couldn't get a licence to drive an iphone-there the 2 topics are now connected.:D
