Never copy and paste then edit a sentence. Rewrite it, dammit.

We really need a better smiley for errors than ; something more looking like "DO'H!" would be more appropriate right now.

I lol'd ;)

Decided to treat myself today, got a bottle of MUMM ; can't believe how much cheaper it is here.

Hopefully that Mumm tastes better than a freebie which I picked up in the J lounge once (they were peddling it to the premium pax, like those crystal things before).

Damn straight it's cheaper there; after all, the source is just in your backyard, across a huge pond. Not to mention that you can get more quid for your dollar right now...

Not far off... 3 tenners!

As they say in Australia, "bl**dy hell...."

Maybe I should max out my duty free allowance when I head over there next month...although since I'm going to Switzerland I've also been told to take as much chocolate back as possible.

Dollar? What's that? In London.. we only speak in quid :lol::lol:

Oh, what dates are you planning to go there? Maybe I'll join! Still haven't made it over... I noticed BMI had some specials to Basel though

Just checked the Sainsbury's price:

£30.68 (NV)
£33.18 (V)

The one on offer at the F1 was the NV.

I read this post and no word of a lie, the first thing that I thought and then said out loud was, "cough!"

At a price like that, no wonder Champagne as a gift has probably lost its edge over in the British Isles.

I paid 31 for the '92 vintage!

You must tell me how nice the drop is.

I'll get in trouble if I do it right now.. being 1pm and all, shall wait till the g/f is home from work!

You read my mind - I also booked on BD, cashed in on a Groupon and a resulting cheap J fare.

Flights:
Code:
06MAY BD 169 LHR-BSL dep 1925 arr 2200 a/c 319 cls J
08MAY BD 162 BSL-LHR dep 1610 arr 1650 a/c 319 cls J

Now just gotta work out where to stay in BSL for two nights, and what to do for a full day (apart from buy chocolate). Got a help thread over here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....tions/basel-switzerland-in-day-bit-28947.html

Ah well, g/f has to have her share I suppose.

Although that seems to give more hints as to the "bigger present" you are awaiting ;) :D

Flight over is 52 quid, your flight is 80 or so. Flight back is 130.. Hm...

If you follow the BA board at FT (which I did when in the UK, but don't now), you will realise that champers is a very important topic for them.

Champagne as a gift isn't dead - you just have to choose the right ones! (MUMM is unlikely to be a gift happily accepted IMHO)

So I should have got the (what I consider to be coughe) Veuve for an extra 2? :D

Perhaps. Was it Devaux or Cliquot Ponsardin? The former is alright. Latter isn't my cup of tea.

What else was on the shelf? Moet, DP, Bolli, Lanson.....
