Interesting speech.

Sunscreen is one thing I have not used for the majority of my adult life and play golf most times without a cap/hat.

The sunscreen wasn't the point main point of the youtube link I was trying to get across, go to 2min 30 to get what I was trying to get at, from one of your replies.

Sometimes it is fun to post cryptic stuff to see if any one picks up on what I have said.

I try not to think about JohnK doing the funky chicken

Can anyone explain why I wasn't able to get mobile reception when in Miami Airport recently? I could see T-Mobile, but my phone (Optus) wasn't allowed to make calls on that network.

The phone supports GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900

Are there no other carriers in the Miami area with GSM support?

I got the cryptic message.

Another early wake up for residents in Christchurch.

'Fairly violent' 5.3 earthquake rocks Christchurch - National - NZ Herald News

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake has rocked Christchurch early this morning, GNS Science reports. The aftershock was centred 20km west of Christchurch, at a depth of 15km, striking the city at 3.04am.
GNS Science said the quake was "widely felt around Canterbury", with many Cantabrians reporting the jolt was "slightly damaging".
The aftershock is the second largest to strike following the devastating 6.3 magnitude earthquake on February 22.
It was also the 25th earthquake Canterbury has had measuring five or more on the Richter scale since the 7.1 magnitude earthquake on September 4.

It must be tough to be living in Christchurch at the moment and I am sure a few people must be seriously considering moving away.

Talking to a few Christchurch suppliers they say the worse thing when another earthquake occurs is this one bigger than the last.

Even as tourist it would be unnerving to be in a city with an earthquake occurring.

Re: Now You're Flying Virgin Australia

I've no idea what a "segué" is

Isn't it a high-tech scooter?

Re: Now You're Flying Virgin Australia

Off topic, some time ago JohnK asked how you would describe a new colour to someone. See here for my answer:
Flag of Australia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
sorry it is the scientist in me.
The person you are describing the colour to does not understand anything scientific.

Explain the new colour to them in such a way that when they see the new colour they are able to recognise it! It is very close to impossible.

While we’re sort of on the topic of explosives testing, if they ever ask you how your day is going, don’t answer literally that it was going well until you got stopped as they gave me a lot of s**t about that and I was just being honest and truthful. Now I know to lie to security people.
 I did this in Sydney the other day. He asked me how my day was! I said it was fine until now!  He did not look too impressed.

I should not have been rude. They are only trying to do a job but sometimes it gets frustrating getting chosen all the time. :(

But there's the trick, I just need to work out the RGB, Hex, or CMYK numbers for my colour, feed them into a computer and show them. Robert is my father's uncle.

I try to be very polite, and use the tactic of saying that I'm being checked all the time. Last year I was checked about 4 times IIRC. This year it has been at least 10, a big frustrating indeed.

I also try to time my way through the screening point carefully. If someone is at the explosive check point, I grab my stuff, run to the seat just past security and put the computer away. If they are standing there counting fingers ;) I put my stuff away on the roller bench thing, taking my time until someone else walk away and then takes the bullet (so to speak). This has only failed once where the guy let 3 people go and waited for me. :( Clearly I must have looked like I was avoiding him.

Finally some light at the end of the tunnel.

Loan application was approved last week which will reduce my credit card interest payments by more than half. :D

No idea about Miami as haven't been there for years, but generally manually selecting a network is better than Auto select when roaming.

You should be able to use AT&T as well though

I still have my old K800i; most recently in MIA January and I could have made calls if I desired - I am with Telstra.

Yeah, my (old) K800i was what I was using. My C905 recently died an ungraceful death (speaker no longer worked). But, my new Android Samsung Galaxy S2 is due to arrive very soon!

My travel insurance claim for delayed journey was approved today! Woohoo. They incorrectly applied a $100 excess, but tbh not really that concerned (Credit card special). Still deciding if I'm going to chase that $100.

So, one night prepaid accom refunded, one night "emergency" accom refunded, plus food. Makes me wish I ate more expensive food ;)

Sounds good, were you able to change your routing and avoid St Louis or did you fly through St Louis and check out the damage.

I can't remember but I think my Iphone3G not Iphone3GS worked in Miami last year, but I can't say I tested it to ring anyone, especially as it was midday and 2:00am back home.

Will discuss more next time we chat (or PM works too). Visited STL - had 30 mins layover there (roughly). My options to change got stuffed by a waitlist not clearing, and a flight ex-DCA being cancelled.

AA @ STL had moved their operations into a different terminal, but the terminal where they were at originally was a huge mess.

I've just had a most unsettling experience and I feel the need to share it with someone.
I was sitting here in my workshop working on a clients computer (replacing a faulty hard drive) had the television on low in the background when an ad that I had never seen before came on and I started watching,it's an ad for the Surf Lifesaving Association,as I said I haven't seen it before but I was transfixed by the incredibly powerful images and the haunting piano music, then for no reason I burst into tears which for a 50 year old man is rather unsettling.
Has anyone else seen this commercial ? It's absolutely stunning.
