If anything goes horribly wrong, and you have a very long delay. At least there is a nice place to sit and wait.

Good point. Only problem is if you have an appointment waiting at the other end, and / or you have to deal with your return flight (possibly not on the same ticket) or MEL accommodation.

Not many options with a Saturday F lounge run

You could always attempt the unpatented JohnK chuck a sickie with a fully flexible ticket trick.

JQ cancel flights daily ex BNE. Today it was BNE/MEL flight but there could've been others as well. Last night it was MKY & only 8 seats left on QF so some pax sent on QF to TSV in the evening, others had to overnight in BNE & flew QF to MKY this morning. I'm sure there were several flights affected ie cancelled either into or out of OOL or MCY as pax were put on a bus to BNE to fly out from there.

They also have a nasty habit of telling people what flight they will be on however pax always invariably arrive at that airline's checkin prior to the reservations being made, then get snakey at that airline for not having the booking.

A friend just got back from Bali via DRW & said JQ cancelled a DPS/SYD flight the day they flew out & when they asked the checkin guy why he said "personnel" which I interpret as lack of crew.

JQ right now are making Tiger look good.

Seriously folks, if you have any important events coming up I would think very carefully with whom you choose to fly.

Most people were bussed to Brisbane at put on JQ/QF flights from here. I wasen't.

I was told the had a crewing issue. I think a later OOL-MEL flight got canned too.

They ferried the aircraft back to SYD. So I can only assume it was a Cabin Crew problem. Not flight crew.

Oh come on. There can't be that many cabin crew who could be ill. Don't tell me this is the cavalier attitude of Australians chucking a sickie for the sake of it.

If they're not going to come to work then they're just as good to the airline as they are if they were to drop dead like they deserve to. Simple.

And yet their overall cancellation rate is not that high. Is someone fudging statistics?

I would rather fly Tiger before Jetstar anyday.

True but no airline guarantees to get you to your destination on time.

I am still amazed the people who fly half around the world for a 1 hour meeting don't have more issues making these meetings.

I heard they are rare but I found a Qantas FASA on the exact day I wanted to travel, 12 Jan 2012 just in time for FT Sin Do

I could not find a connecting flight at the discounted price 117,000, normal price 750,000.

I think I can slum it in Y for BNE-MEL.

Now to figure out how to get back from Singapore.

I hope a Qantas A380 First will be better than AA domestic First. ;)

This will be the first time I will be flying international first.:D

So you wont be joining me on the Jet* flight to SIN then Bundy? :p

Enjoy the A380 F, I've travelled on it previously and loved it. Am so looking forward to my LAX-SYD FASA next April.

Tiger! Go on, you know you want to do it! :p

I have already flown Tiger; trip report here. Please keep up, ;)

I was looking at something a little bit more different; like Air Asia to Darwin. :p:shock: then I could pick up a JASA from there. DRW-SYD-BNE should secure 120SCs.

But the more sensible option is SIN-BKI-SIN on Air Asia for the SIN post do.; then SIN-SYD on BA(QF320) followed by SYD-BNE on QF19, depending on timing and schedules.

If you have done Tiger long haul and JQ long haul then only Ryanair left to complete the trifecta! ;)

Ryanair don't really do any long haul as such. In any case, he's already flown them. :o

Now you're going to have to decide which seat you want. Such problems! :p:lol:

Island dining at CBR QF J lounge is now up and running. I only saw a couple of other people partaking. Still it has to start somewhere.

And this is how the wine was described at the island dining this evening.

The wine shows a complex nose of cherries & forest floor with supple, silky tannins & great length.

2008 Tollana Bin TR474 Pinot Noir Mornington Peninsula Victoria.

Now I know what bears do in the forest and I don’t want to smell it. :p In the same vein I hope they are really cherries and not pellets from the forest floor. As for ‘great length’ well if I wrote any more I would be banned from AFF for a long time.

I don’t drink so I have no idea what it tasted like, but fair dinkum the description alone turns me off.

The actual ‘plate of the day’ was Minestrone with smoky bacon and pesto. Very nice and probably the best thing I ate all day (all lounge or aeroplane food) on my very quick and late notice trip to SYD.

Be interesting to see what the next meals are.

I don't mind the tollana, but the description is not the best. I just think of damp, rotting vegetation.

Actually I didn't mind that description, I love a drop of Pinot and was thinking of being fed cherries whilst lying on the forest floor

Well, have just arrived home from Ireland to a few goodies. In the mail was a new PS card from QF (2 months before expiry) even though I'm going to fall short this year (as I've diverted a lot of travel to other carriers/alliances) this year ; so that's a nice touch. I also have a nice shiny UK issued Platinum AMEX charge card. The price is not far off my Platinum credit card (Aus issued) and includes a full Priority Pass membership. Time to give the AU one a flick me thinks ;)
