Yep, they are all baby teeth. But they all have small amounts of decay on the chewing surface (impossible to see unless she's in a dentist's chair with a spotlight shining on them), and there is a real risk of decay getting through to the adult teeth underneath :(

I'm no dentist but that sounds a teeny weeny bit dodgy to me, if she were my child I would get a second opinion.

Just had a good chat with the security guy on the DJ premium lounge entry in SYD about the All Blacks and Wallabies for this years world cup. Great stuff. Also managed to get served 2 beers. 15 minutes to get them down.

We got told the same thing. Apparently, the teeth are so insubstantial that they can decay through to the root by the time the tooth drops out if it is at a young enough age.

In the good old days ( certainly in the UK, NHS dentists) would use fissure sealants on these teeth, much cheaper and less intensive than crowns.
I'm also dubious about caries extending from baby teeth to unerrupted adult teeth.
Again I'm not a dentist so could of course be entirely off the mark

That's alright, I'm sure you'll enjoy your new car: View attachment 3469

Supposedly a young lady called Jane is going to give me an Audi.

Hello Ron,
Congratulations! You have just been nominated to be our possible winner!
We are happy to announce that you are one of our lucky three selected to win an AUDI A3: Audi A3 valued at $45.000 AUD:

At least the email isn't from Nigeria.

I just double checked and our child had fillings, but it was only last year at 9 years as against 5.

Yeah well I'd love to know why dentists aren't covered under medicare. From what I've read Australia has some of the worst dental health in the developed world, hardly surprising considering what it costs just to walk into a dentist's office!

You know what the waiting list is like for some things "covered under medicare" like cataracts and knee replacements? You might be waiting years...socialism: less generous in practice than in theory.

Yep, knew someone who waited 9 years! for a hip replacement. By the time they did it the other hip was buggered, and she had to wait another 6 years to get that one done

You want to know what really hurts? My daughter is 5. We have looked after her teeth (OK, except that she's only just seen the dentist for the first time, but we got high fives for how well we've kept her teeth clean). Only problem is she has "chalky enamel" on her back teeth which means that don't protect the teeth as well as they should ... so she needs protective crowns on them ... I cry when I think what I could buy for the near $3K it's going to cost us.

My denstist prescribed a tooth mousse to help restore enamel & had a silicone mould made up which is a bit like a mouth guard for your top and bottom row of teeth so you can squeeze a bit of tooth mousse into it & put it on for half an hour each day or so.

You will of course give interested AFFers a ride in your new Audi drron?:lol:

Life gets a little monotonous when you know your fate.

Can you tell that my flight is delayed? Again? :p First 10 mins, then 20 minutes, then who knows when....

Now 30 minutes delay and counting....

Another AFFer saw me in the BNE Business Lounge and asked if I was on the SYD flight. When I nodded and saud 'Yes' I believe he understood his flight was delayed.

Everything (QF) was late or cancelled this evening out of CBR. From 10-15 minutes late to 50+ minutes. At least one SYD flight was cancelled, probably two.

On the other hand, the waitlist I managed (well, before I buggered off travelling for 6 months) was about 6 weeks for knee and hip replacements - often less than the consultant surgeon's private waitlists, and some days I was actively hunting for patients to operate on ("Hello sir, you seem to be limping, can I replace a major joint for you?). Frustratingly the waitlist to be seen in clinic to determine if surgery was really required and then be put on the surgical waitlist was about 2 years.... government money focusses on one part of the system at a time, not the overall system. They also go through phases of waitlist-reduction funding - one year cataracts, the next year joints, the year after that tonsils - none of it makes any sense to me! Definite geographical differences as well. 2 out of 3 WA tertiary hospitals have minimal joint replacement waitlists, one has a much longer wait.

Ah drmikki therein lies the rub.Two of the hospitals I go to actually have me there as a supernumerary to get the Medicine Outpatient waitlist down. Both had category 2 patients waiting up to 5 years-both now less than 18 months. What always surprises me is the patients scheduled to see me have been rung within the 3 days prior to the appointment and have said they are coming yet 20-50% dont turn up.So its not all the Government's fault.
On the other hand I now book 13 new Medical patients per day so I am glad I have never had 100% turn up.
