eBuddy is a Messenger program for phones (there are probably others). Have no fear, there is an Android version as well!

I don't know what Messenger is like on phones but if it is anything like MSN on computers then I will simply not have enough data allowance with the phone plan I will be on to be able to use it.

Just heard that Gold Coast airport has been shut all day. Most flights earlier this morning diverted to BNE. Now they are mostly cancelling flights, flying people to BNE and then bussing them down.

It's been raining all day, but the weather doesn't seem to be that bad. We have had a lot worse weather than this and the airport didn't skip a heartbeat!

Anybody know why it's closed?

Nice fine day in Brisbane after yesterdays rain, fine day and I am stuck indoors attending another boat show, this one in Brisbane so I don't get to fly anywhere, at least the show finishes at 5pm.

Sent from a cool Apple product using Aust Freq Fly app

OOL has limited low vis appraoches due to terrain AFAIK, wind and rain in the wrong spots make it a no go!

I would love to know why some people choose to leave the safe haven of the terminal and visit the business lounge to make loud phone calls and annoy the hell out of those around them....

Wonderful way to start my week. After waiting 4 months for my new car, I got a call from the yard today:

"Hi drewbles, it's Mr Car Dealer here"
'Yes Mr Car Dealer' *instantly worried as i'd bought the car from Miss Car Dealer and was expecting her to call me to advise me my toy had arrived*
"Mr drewbles your car has arrived..... but it's the wrong colour"
'...... um right...'

Now, the negotiations begin. 4 month wait for new car in the right colour, or try and get the price down so low I can't say no to this one. Which would you do (the original car was British Racing Green and the delivered car was Black; all other features are as ordered though)?

Hang them out to dry. Have they offered any compensation, let them make the first offer and work from there. You have to be compensated for the additional 4 months of not having the car as ordered, or be prepared to accept black - but they have to pay for the mistake.

Ask where the green one was shipped - perhaps they sent the green one to a person waiting for the black one and it can be re-shipped at their cost. Make them do all the legwork.

Went to pick up somebody from the airport today. Had my bag with me, going through security I did my normal thing. Just as I put my bag through I hear....

You don't have an iPad in here do you?

Oh, well, yes I do actually.

The security 'guy' stopped the whole thing and decide to give me a lecture that iPads MUST always be removed at security at Gold Coast airport. Before I could do the "Ive travelled through here 5million times and never taken out my iPad" he advised me this rule has always been in place.

How rude I thought, nevertheless, I moved on.

With a little time to kill before I had to leave, I wanted to test his theory. I went through a second time at a different lane. No problems with my iPad. Asked the security guy about iPads and he just waved it through.

Gotta love that consistency.

IT support moonlighting as a screening officer ?

Was justing folding some laundry and felt something in the pocket of my 8 yr olds skirt: her iPod. Has been through a full front load washing cycle and then tumble dried.
It's still working :) :)

Since you had some time, I would have bailed up the first guy again, saying "your colleague doesn't agree with your assertion about iPads - he just told me something different" and then walk away as they start discussing it....

Unfortunately that's how things are sometimes. I've stopped caring about what security and customs people say. Sure, they can slander you all you like, and unfortunately the worst that will happen is you will never win, and the best that will happen is the resolution process will probably outweigh the outcome.

So now I just don't care any more. Especially in the USA - it's not worth arguing with the TSA, especially if you are not a US citizen.

Inconsistency is just another of those things you can do little about in these kinds of situations, except perhaps count your blessings if the 'inconsistency' goes your way! (For example, carrying more than 1 L of > 100 mL containers...)

I suppose you could report the officer, but in the end they will probably reply that he was doing his job. How he delivered the lecture to you was entirely irrelevant. And, after that, there's really not much you can do about it (except not fly through OOL, which is impractical).

I'd ask for a refund as they haven't been able to deliver that you paid for. Four months is too long a wait.

Another example of inconsistency is not being able to take a cappuccino through the ISS screening point at BDT (QF end) as they say it can't be sealed when it goes through the x-ray machine. Yet if you go through the screening to the right of JQ checkin (ISS again) you can walk through the scanner holding your cappuccino they want in down & you're good to go!

So now I just don't care any more. Especially in the USA - it's not worth arguing with the TSA, especially if you are not a US citizen.

As John Eales once said "rule number 1 - the referee is always right".

Suggest that they order in the green again, but loan you a car for the 4 months. If that's not possible, then request a refund. That should get them panicking. If all else fails, escalate to the National HQ of the car manufacturer (Hopefully not Cherry or Tata lol), and let them deal with the mess.

I bet they "find" your car and it will be available within a week or two.

I would take the Black car and ask for a sizeable discount. ;)
