Those who know me realise I tend to head into Asia for Christmas/New Year. Normally I try and get organised and pick up reward seats early, but some years I'm not organised and then have to try and work out something interesting.

This year is one of those years!

You did well to find what you did in the period that you're looking at.

DRW-SIN (JQ via cash)

That chilli crab better be worth the pain on that flight! :p ;)

4.5 hours with pre-JQ drinks at the QP to help ease the pain.... Should be bearable.

Oh - and Chilli Crab, Satay Sticks, Chilli Stingray, Hianese Chicken, Parata, and many, many other delicacies. My mouth is watering already!

Doh! Just managed to book a hotel room for tonight rather than the 23rd December ... One of the joys of multiple windows being open and refreshing after logging into a site.

Oh well. Correct night booked as a separate booking, hotel emailed - so should work out ok.

I do admit I do enjoy all of those (chilli stingray is a new one on me, though). But I can't have a lot of it in a short time, otherwise I feel too bloated. Fresh veggies help break it up a bit.

Yeah, the combination of satay, chilli and beer never helps my digestive system....

I enjoyed Stingray when I was there last time. It's an interesting meal. Best comparison I can give is a texture like lobster, but a taste more like a good fish.

Not sure you see it on the menu in Oz very often. I have wondered whether it's a protected species here.

Good to see Manly in the grand final.

Even though I hate Hawthorn what I would have given to see Collingwood miss out. I hate arrogance.

At last. Someone finds a use and a praise for Vista. :p :D
Stranger alliances than that have been formed over the years.

For a lot of part, that is a really good idea.

Of course, with virtual machines and / or multi-boot, nothing is impossible. But that takes skill.
Virtual machine? I struggle with the real machine let alone worrying about virtual machines.

Manly and Collingwood are the 2 sides who bring out the-I am going to back the other side feeling. So not a good Friday night until the Wobbalies thrashed USA.

Remember the only QP at DRW is landside & closes after the last domestic departure in the afternoon. What time does your JQ flight to SIN depart?

Aaah, yes. Thanks for the reminder about the strange QP hours. Just checked QP hours:
0500 to 0700, 1100 to 1530, 2300 to 0130.

Flight leaves at 6:30pm. So heading to the QP would only be an option if I arrived by 3pm.

Anyway, is ok. I'll survive. Was looking forward to a shower and change of clothes after a day in Darwin. Will probably get there around 2:30, sort out the shower, then when kicked out head down to JQ check-in and just loiter. Then once checked in, head back upstairs and try my best to waste the next 2 hours until Customs opens, as well as avoiding entering the International area until I have to! (Been there before. Don't think it has changed!!!)

And who are you going to barrack for next weekend.

Geelong will play Collingwood in the AFL.

and

New Zealand Warriors will play Manly in the NRL.

If you have tickets to any of the Grand Finals enjoy.

AFL - I struggle to find a way to barrack for either of them

NRL - Meh - who cares.

Go Warriors! :-|

As for the AFL G/F, I'll be there - hope the umpires win ...

The First Test starts on 1 December at The Gabba - AUST v NZ. I think it's only a 2 Test series, followed by 3 against India.

You'll find me at The Gabba for the first 3 days of the Test, as usual.

I was surprised to see them win yesterday. I was all set on watching Manly beating the Storm next Sunday but now I have come to grips with Manly beating the Warriors! ;)

Were you planning to go the NRL grand final?

One of the guys I play golf with on Saturday mornings purchased 2 tickets to the AFL grand final from North Melbourne @ $1400 each which includes attending some breakfast as well. Very late into the match on Friday night he was contemplating on how he was going to sell the tickets.

Apparently each of the teams sell their allocation of 1,500 tickets for what ever price they want.

Seems I am altea's favourite player for musical chairs

47B -> 28D with spare middle on one of the uglies
49B -> 48F (middle seat!) on the new dom A330-200s. A visit to the cityflyer service desk fixed me up with 39D and had a spare next to me.

All very confusing :p

It's the first time I've flown the new A332s, I would be less than impressed paying for J and getting the middle seat...what on earth were they thinking when they approved that.
