Thank goodness the water main didn't happen during the day.

BNE CBD is bad enough now with out adding that cough to it.

Only about 200m away from where there was a huge burst water main only 10 days ago. (The one 10 days ago was Cnr Margaret and George, this one was George Street opposite the Brisbane City Council building). You do have to question what is wrong with the water main running along George!

(Water was flowing down George St, Adelaide Street, into lower ground floors of buildings etc. Electricity out on parts of George St, Queen St Mall etc. Big Mess).

That's more like it. This thread was getting alarmingly on topic...

Did my masters in humidity in POM. 25 and 90% sounds a bit cool, 32 and 80% just fine, but when the glass walled air con in the office fails (for months) and its airless, 37 and 90% even the nationals would declare 'too hot'.

Anyone done DXB or similar in summer? I understand they do heat very well there...

Cheers skip

IMO the extreme weather we have had in the last 12 months or so must be making the ground very unstable and with BNE CBD probably many of water pipes are probably a significant age.

Perth had typical Florida weather today. 40 degrees all day. Come evening a thunder storm with mass rain. Bout 90% humidity right now.

And the storm was better than the fireworks.

I didn't see the fireworks but I wouldn't imagine they would of been great in this weather.

Bit of a waste of a couple of hundred grand.

QF513 was great, had 34J & K to myself, lots of room to stretch my legs, very attentive FA,s and nice food, bit bumpy ride but the crew made up for that, now I know why I have been loyal to Qf for so long.

42deg + 90% when we visited AUH.

<snip - water leak etc> George Street opposite the Brisbane City Council building). <snip>

Ironic much??

Government going out in style???

Did seat selection after T-80 earlier this week for my PER-ADL flight yesterday, 4 x red e-deals (2 x bronze and 2 x non-FF )

Got 4 exit row seats (13A-D). Guess all bets really are off at T-80...

Also you can imagine my face when I stepped on a QF 737 to be greeted by a young and quite attractive crew (sans CSM)

Service was very good too:!:

Yep I was surprised to get an exit row on a red e deal too, also had a very lovely FA greet me and offer chilled water while I settled in to my seat-very nice service for a silver status flyer.

with an ironic twist that it is also the last HI in the world to be updated to the new standards

Actually, it's not the last. The Holiday Inn Atrium Singapore is still sporting the old logo, so that hasn't been upgraded fully either.

Oh well. What about the quality of the rooms (i.e. upgraded / not upgraded)?

In any case, it seems from the rumour mill that IHG will be letting go of the HI Brisbane.......

Still not upgraded from what I hear... My guess is that they are due to leave HI soon.

Yes, the rumour mill is going wild. One of the potential names mentioned was an interesting one.

I noticed that the executive floor at the HI BNE has signage with the new logo so I wonder if they are going to rebrand the hotel when the room refurb is complete.

That is leaving aside the rumour that it won't be a HI any more:shock:, of course

I had to laugh at this:

Spirit Airlines

Spirit Airlines rebelling at the government making airlines show all fees and chargers as part of a fare.

Apparently not telling people the full price, isn't hiding taxes. But including them in the price, is.

When I was at the BKK HI Si Lom recently they didn't have any Coke Zero/Diet Coke and were very apologetic about it. There is actually a shortage in most of BKK at the moment.

I actually found a six pack at a nearby Tops supermarket and when I was putting them in the room fridge I realised that the can of Red Bull had been tampered with, someone had just opened it and consumed the contents and then put the can back in the middle of the other cans.

A whole 12THB (AUD$0.40) worth. The lounge staff were again very apologetic and didn't doubt me for a second, but what a cheap person to steal something like that.
