Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

I did wait until the end of the day, before I said anything as it is usually over by 12:00pm, I think my 1 word response today was about right.

A little while ago there was the unusual sight of a QF Dash8 appearing to be on course to land at MCY-we are under 1 of the flight paths for this and it certainly was low enough to be landing there.

An emergency landing...medical emergency perhaps - did you wander up to MCY to offer your services?
Just a little too far to wander.it was approaching from the South so a medical emergency surely would have been back to BNE.
looked at the MCY website and a Strategic flight from Clermont was due in-would they use a QF plane?

I think other Dash8 carriers have done charters before BNE/MCY/CMQ & possible BNE/MCY/MOV for Rio Tinto.

If it was coming from Clermont would think it would be bigger than Dash 8 mainly because they do a lot of FIFO from there

More terribly sad news with the passing of indigenous music icon Jimmy Little today.

Gentleman Jim lived a good life that touched many, his passing has been well and truly noted up here in the territory tonight.

It just dawned on me - there are lots of advance purchase nights at Sydney Hilton for $157 (especially Fridays). $157 less 20% from Hilton Macquarie Card = $125.60 with "spouse stays free" with HH Diamond equals a likely room upgrade, executive drinks, and breakfast for 2 in the lounge or downstairs in Glass Restaurant. Given Hilton Sydney is only a few km from home, this might make for a few very reasonable "special" nights for the partner, plus there are stay and point credits!

Okie dokie.... situation analysis:

Code:
09APR BNE-SYD DJ 920 d 0730 a 0905
09APR SYD-BKK TG 472 d 1555 a 2215

Got this coming up next Monday. It's a 6 h 50 min gap between arriving in SYD then departing to BKK. No transfer service for me since DJ and TG won't allow me to check-through and use the bus. So I gotta collect my luggage then train it to T1.

Problem is - I'm guessing that TG won't open check-in until T-3 hours. Which means I'll be stuck landside for a while!

Does anyone else have any better ideas to bide the time at least until I can get checked in at T1? A jaunt in the city sounds nice but it requires the train and coughing up $30 just for ~3 h or so......

Calendar is showing no one around on those dates in the airports. Can't stay in the T2 lounge for long after landing because my lone bag on the carousel will raise a few issues.

400 bus to Mascot Station and then train it from there for ~$3.

400 bus upto Bondi junction or wherever it goes - bit boring, but will kill 3 hours easily.

Walk to mascot then train. Buy an international transfer ticket before walking to mascot and get a return ticket mascot to city.

Really dodgy. Get the transfer ticket to the international. Catch train to the newtown, via central, where you should be able to escape without too much trouble, if my memory is working. Buy a ticket back to mascot and then use the transfer ticket in the gates at the international station.

Transfer ticket to enter at domestic. And I could post you a ticket that will let you out in the city. Buy a ticket back to mascot but use the transfer ticket to get out at the international.

Anyone got a spare 200 grand lying around doing nothing?
SINGAPORE (Reuters) - A whisky made to mark the 60th year on the throne of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is on sale in Singapore for a mere S$250,000 ($198,500) a bottle - and it may well find a buyer.
No doubt it's a premium sip. Only 60 bottles of Diamond Jubilee were made by the Johnnie Walker unit of Diageo PLC from a blend of whiskies distilled in 1952.
For sale in Singapore: $200,000 bottle of whisky - Yahoo!7

48 hours out and this flight is looking very full (and yes, corroborating with E/F all bar a couple of those seats are actually taken):

I know it's the start of school holidays, and the flight is showing J1 Y0 so it's going to be full but still I've never seen that many seats preselected before.
