There are quite a few AFFers who like their Tim Tams and always on the hunt for good value ones. Mainly I learned this through Twitter.

Not sure what they would say about the white choc ones, though...

I've actually been favouring Mint Slices lately, but yes, I'll remember to pick up some white Tim Tams when I go shopping tomorrow. Was that at Woolworths?

It certainly was and I got double points for any spend >$30. With a $190 shop there will be no need to shop for non-perishables, especially Vegemite (also on sale this week) for awhile. :)

A very happy start to the day, but became somber. Attended my daughters' school to see her get an award for student of the week in her Prep class. Then was off to a funeral (a retired workmate) but as I was walking to the car, get a phone call from my mother - our next door neighbour had died in Newcastle (not unexpected as he had metastatic melanoma, but sooner than we had thought). I had only spoken to his son last week (a good client of mine).

After returning to my office after the funeral, rang my friend and found out about his fathers last week (he headed down there last week and thankfully 3 of the 4 sons made it to be with him).

Unfortunately for me, they set the funeral for Tuesday - try as I might I can't get down and back on Tuesday (as I'm off to ADL Tues night). Was going to try and contact Princess Fiona and see if she was available for a catch up, but no chance now :(

I LOVE white chocolate, but when mixed with biscuits it loses appeal. Doesn't go quite as well as 'normal' chocolate does:!:

Here I was thinking I did well last week when I picked up several packets of Tim Tams (normal, chewy caramel, double choc, turkish delight etc) for $1.79 as the usual "sale" price is $1.99!

There's something about Tim Tams - you eat one and then you want another one.... and then it sharply comes to an end.

At that end, you're more put off by the saltiness of the biscuit (or perhaps the poor quality of the chocolate) rather than the sweetness of the chocolate and/or filling.

That's me, anyway.

Well I have only travelled with you twice and on one of those occasions we left on time and arrived early. The other occasion we were not quite that lucky.

So I suppose that is 50/50.
Hmmm. The first time we had 4 flights and all 4 were delayed and on one of those we missed the connection and the eventual flight we were on was also delayed. So that is 5/6 delays if you count individual flights. ;)

In any case do not freat as July is near and I hear that the golf is looking pretty good, a bit wet at the moment though.
Countdown is on in earnest. As of today, Saturday, there are only 26 days before I arrive in Thailand. We both arrive around the same time but I will be heading off to Hua Hin while you head the other direction.

We should try and catch up again from July 12 - July 18 where I will be back down your way.

I have a feeling we're not going to be able to catchup on this trip now, I've got to head off on a business trip Thurs/Fri (leave 9am Thurs, back 5pm Fri from St Pancras International).

That isn't do good, if that is the case I might change my hotel booking, I have until Wednesday night to cancel or change it.

And I saw TonyHancock complaining about the rain as its raining in Germany as well, don't they know it's summer.

Unless you want to head up to Chesterfield for the night  (NB: don't, it may be considered bad for your health! Plus the train is around £48 return, ridiculous)

Have you forgotten what The Great British Summer used to be like? ie. pretty cough
Hope you enjoyed the Jubilee

It pretty much rained for the whole of my end of April Trip, but was dry in February and March. I do forget how spoiled I am in Australia! The weather was poor for The Jubilee, I felt sorry for the poor folks who were outside watching in London. It was all done very well though. (Still trying to come to terms with the whole Grace Jones thing at the Jubilee concert!

Not raining down in old London town.. BTW, we should try catch up one of these days, time permitting.

There seems to be a large influx of people over the next 2 months, always happens (due to it being Summer I guess). It's just a shame that I'm so tied up with work right now

I have another three trips this year, but August and October are very tight. December might be good I'll check my dates. Failing that I have March and May 2013 already booked.

Don't worry, 'tis just as soggy here in SE Melbourne.

MrsH reported back, she was very miserable....almost cheered me up!

Try January. Less rain then.

Touch cold though!!

In the UK the reports are of a European Monsoon. I'm in the exec lounge at The Hilton Metropole in Birmingham, waiting for Happy two and a half hours, looking at the wind hand rain as I type.

Currently in Darwin and was supposed to depart on The Ghan this morning. Phone call last night to say there was a derailment near Tennant Creek and no trains going North or South.

So, an extra night in Darwin and flight to ASP tomorrow....so much for the big trip.

Not happy Jan

Damn, I wouldn't be happy at all either.

Was the extra night and positioning to ASP arranged by the rail company?

I'd be more disappointed if you were travelling in a premium class (not just the lowest one). Though, even at the lowest class of travel, I'd bet that the cost of an air ticket to ASP plus one night's accommodation would still be less than the differential cost of The Ghan from Darwin to Alice Springs (not to mention the loss of amenity / time).

The lowest class are being taken to ASP by bus. We are on a QF flight tomorrow.

Not sure how to charge them for the extra meals etc. yet or if there is to be any compensation

One for the IT types. I was checking out a fake rolex site (doesn't use SSL), and under the FAQs it had:
How safe is ordering from your site?

Woohoo - 124 bit encryption. No wonder it's so secure!

Now everyone knows Tassie is a little behind the times but the new terminal at DPO has taken it to a new level-

That's right the new checkin was opened only a 1000 years later than planned!

Another day another airport lounge, this time the LHR T1 star alliance lounge, not bad pity about the lack of beer, but what they did have was showers didn't expect that at all, was so thankful for them to be available.

Today I had a 10 hour connection that was shortened to 9 hours and as I arrived close to the 9:30am time for the underground the day ticket was half price. I went and had a look at the Cutty Sark which has just been reopened after a major overhaul. It is a fair distance from Heathrow to Greenwich but the frequency of service on the 2 lines and the DLR means I didn't have to wait long for a train.

Now off to Germany on LH on some of my BMI points, cash and points what a great invention pity its gone.

You really should just buy an Oyster card. It'll end up cheaper than a day ticket (I have one and just leave some credit on it; they don't expire that I know of).

Got my oyster card, as I plan to be going back to London a fair bit over the next few years.

Ah yes, the Hilton Garden Inn. That's where I stayed too when I was there a few weeks ago. I wonder if we were actually there at the same time

I know you guys liked it at the HGI Glasgow City Centre. I just spent my time there wishing that I'd actually gone with the Hilton Glasgow (which, had I gone with a refundable booking at the HGI, I would have. I found the HGI there way too uncomfortably small.

LearJet trip today - DRW-BNE-DRW. I had a total of two hours landside in BNE before I headed back.

By the way, there's a lounge many people might not have been to - the Hawker Pacific terminal on Boronia Road, Brisbane Airport has a lounge for people that are waiting for their chartered private jets to arrive. It's kind of cool because you finish your cup of coffee and walk straight out to your awaiting private jet.

I raided their fridge for Diet Coke. For a 4.5 hour trip to DRW with no toilet on board, that wasn't such a smart idea!

Anyone got any ideas how one can sell unwanted alcohol without a liquor licence?

Is it possible to sell or does one give it away or drink it?
