Thanks for the tips, Mrs DrRon. :) I think my bigger issue is my shoes - not the number, but that I have no single pair of shoes that I could wear day in, day out on a trip.:D

Katie, there are brands of "comfort" shoes that look decent. I discovered Ara shoes in Europe and LOVE them, you can get them here is Australia but they are expensive even on sale. I also like Rieker ( another german brand) and Rockport. All make dress shoes. For walkers I love Merrell.

Rockport Womens Shoes

In Brisbane these two places have good brand comfort shoes -

Now I have a very serious beef,or should I say pastrami, with VA.Have had the Luke Mangan New Yorker on 3 occasions now.And though it says on the description and on the list of ingredients that it has a pickle I am yet to find one.
Who's pinching all of Luke's pickles.
This could be a game breaker for DJ!

Can't say that I have noticed pickle in this wonderful creation....just seemed to be coleslaw of some type.

Thanks, I'll give them a try, but I can see any on the Zappos site in 11.5 C (I'm Aus 10.5 C). :(
I have bought some shoes at Children of the Revolution; the owner is a podiatrist, so particular about the shoes they stock.

4 flights to finish of my quick trip to Europe.

On Friday it was LCY-AMS on RJ-85 flown by Cityjet(who operate flights for KLM & AF) followed by AMS-FRA on E190 operated by KLM Cityhopper, then it was onto Qantas to Singapore then QF52 to Brisbane. The FRA-SIN-BNE is the start of a new round trip which sees me heading back to Europe on the 10 November BNE-SIN-FRA, I couldn't get the booking engine to price any decent connections via Sydney. Interesting the airfare I paid for this trip in PE hit the credit card at $2820.00 which is about half price of what the passenger who was sitting next to me who paid around $6000 ex Melbourne. I upgraded the final sector SIN-BNE to business on points.

I caught up with another AFF user(Dot) Andrew for a few hours in the Qantas BA First lounge in Singapore. Instead of spending 4 hours in the lounge I went for a swim in the pool in the Transit Hotel area in T1. Price was Sin $13.95 same as what I paid for it in 2005 when I last used the pool.

Only sad part of the trip so far is I lost my camera when going through security at Frankfurt airport, they wanted all liquids and laptops separated into different containers, and I put the phone into one of the bins with the laptop then I took out the laptop then the security guy took away the bin without realizing until a minute later that a phone was still in the tray, then in the mean time I took everything out of my bag checking for the phone, when I eventually got the phone back from security I didn't check to make sure I put everything back into my bag.

I have phoned Frankfurt airport Lost and found once today and I will be ringing them for the next few days to see when it turns up. Most annoying part is I had my Australian sim card inside the camera case.

Most interesting part of the trip unaware of its history was to go and visit the site of the Nuremberg Trials and I guess staying in the plane hostel in Stockholm was also rather good planned part of the trip.

And I am not looking forward to the eventual jetlag, thanks for the reminders TonyHancock. :(

For me traveling with carry on gives me a bit of my life back. Last Thursday I landed at SYD International at 05:05 and was in the Domestic J lounge at 05:35. I managed to get a flight back to MEL an hour earlier. Doesn't sound a lot but it soon adds up.
Considering I am one of the unluckiest people I know I have not experienced what you guys experience arriving in SYD. I have waited 15-20 minutes occassionally for luggage but as I have golf clubs with me I may as well have the suitcase as well. ;)

I am usually home in the suburbs <1:00 hour after arriving. In fact last trip arrived around 9:30am, collected some tobacco for dad, went straight through Smartgate (I think that is what it is called) in around 2 minutes and luggage and golf clubs were waiting for me on carousel and oversize baggage. I could not use express quarantine due to golf clubs but was asked if I had golf shoes which I do not take with me and was waved through. The longest I had to wait was ~20 minutes for dad to arrive as I do not like calling him unless I am through quarantine. Home in less than an hour....

I agree. The more you feel sorry for yourself, the greater the chance of bad things happening. The more positive outlook you have and attitude to life, the higher chance you have of good things happening.

Slightly disagree. I think luck has been pre-determined in our lives.

Oops. Have cleared a couple now.

Totally disagree.

I do not feel sorry for myself. Never have. Never will. I actually find my "luck" a challenge I try to overcome.

I am actually quite proud of what I have achieved in life although I could have achieved much much more. Believe it or not I was actually brilliant at most things at 3-4 years of age including complex mathematics and singing which I have no clue today. People used to admire me. I did not know how to handle my brilliance. And no I am no gloating. I could not be more humble and humiliated at the same time.

I believe it was destiny I did not go further. Believe what you will. I know my destiny and also have a theory about it all but it would be way out of the comprehension of most people. A little insight into either the mind of a brilliant man or a madman. You decide....

It is with a heavy heart and much regret that I must announce there was no mad nutter screaming for an AFP officer to have sex with her at the VA Lounge in PER this afternoon. It was a huge let down and disappointment. VA need to lift their game! If they can provide such amazing entertainment in a MEL lounge on a Friday evening, they should continue that over the network and the weekend!

(on a side note, the renovations have been completed there and the lounge is around 3 times the size it was. It's a very drab and boring lounge, but it's bright at least now as the windows look out onto the apron (and are frosted over so you're not allowed to see anything interesting like a/c movements).

Oh, and the new 330 service... stunning. amazing crew, seats are super comfortable and they've lifted in-flight J food on the transcon to a new level. QF should be scared if they can consistently deliver this product and woo businesses over to it!

Norfolk Island was amazing yesterday - a pity I didn't get to stop longer than an 90 minutes to enjoy it. But I have a some videos and photos from the plane - I'll see if I can get them online. Now I want to go back and stay there for a holiday!

Holy cough! they have Hendricks? I was only there a few weeks ago and didn't notice it :(( Boo! Would have been a worth use of the chits (and is that actually cucumber I see??).

Yes, cucumber and all :) They have a Hendricks coughtail on the menu which they couldn't make due to running out of Cointreau but they found me some cucumber, happy days :D
