I believe it went downhill around the time Super League got involved....

very much the time I switched off NRL, besides origin for which I make a special exception to my indifference.

Able to watch the State of Origin in Amman-televised that live but nothing when it comes to Le Tour.
Anyway league hasn't meant as much since North Sydney left.As they were mainly Queenslanders I have always supported the Maroons.

Is today Thursday or Friday?

Flights delays everywhere. I am a jinx!

Did you see the Courier Mail article today on BNE delays?? I almost wondered if they were interviewing you :p

I used to like going to Henson Park amongst other suburban grounds like Belmore Sports Ground (which is literally about 300 metres from my house), Redfern Oval, Lidcombe Oval, coughberland Sports Ground, Sydney Sports Ground, Leichhardt Oval etc.

I had no idea who played at Henson Park, well until I googled it now anyway, the others,
Belmore Sports Ground, Canterbury
Redfern Oval, South Sydney.
Lidcombe Oval, Wests Magpies,
coughberland Sports Ground, I had to google that one as well, now Parramatta Stadium.
Sydney Sports Ground, home ground of Eastern Suburbs, now Sydney Football Stadium(SFS)
Leichhardt Oval, Balmain Tigers, but now West Tigers call it their home ground.

SuperLeague didn't really start happening until 1995, and it was the 1997 season where the 2 separate competitions were played.

I started following the NSWRL when the Brisbane Broncos joined the league in 1988, there would be the Friday night game, the Saturday game at 3:00pm and sometimes a Saturday night game with the balance of the games on at 3:00pm, so by 5:00pm you would get the wrap up for the football games for the weekend.

My rugby league knowledge was almost as good as my aviation trivia, well those first 5 years until Brisbane won the premiership 1992 and 1993, I used to follow the NSWRL like a religion.

The NRL might have changed but the state of origin games are as good as they have ever been.

Sorry. Missed the article. Would be interesting to read the article and it may actually resemble me.

And it really went downhill from there....

+1. All of the off-field shenanigans put the final nail in the coffin. I don't even watch the NRL Grand Final.

A distressed Kangaroo has been sighted in Lutwyche this morning, obviously been shopping at the centro, that place would distress anything! Lutwyche is an inner northern suburb about 5k from the city for those that don't live in Brisbane!

Thousands of ill-informed tourists became very happy.

You forgot North Sydney Oval and the mighty North Sydney Bears. Lidcombe was home to the Western Suburbs Magpies. They had not merged with Balmain at that time.

Thanks, Oops, Wests Magpies, then they moved to Campbelltown for a few years.

Dare I say it was prepared by a woman.

Why? Well they are used to being told things are much longer than they actually are.
