14deg in Sale with an apparent temp of 4 deg :!: :shock: :evil:

Where did summer go :?: :evil: :lol:
As a matter of interest, can anyone tell me how you calculate the wind chill factor? I've seen a website or app MrMac looks at which shows, for example, "the temperature 12, feels like 8". But I would like to know the equation to work out how cold it is when in Melbourne we get those ghastly winds from the south......and not just in winter, based on the odd temps we've had in the last few weeks

Australia uses Apparent Temperature, which according to BOM is calculated thus:

The formula for the AT used by the Bureau of Meteorology is an approximations of the value provided by a mathematical model of heat balance in the human body. It can include the effects of temperature, humidity, wind-speed and radiation. Two forms are given, one including radiation and one without. On this site we use the non-radiation version. Version including the effects of temperature, humidity, and wind:
AT = Ta + 0.33×e − 0.70×ws − 4.00
Version including the effects of temperature, humidity, wind, and radiation:
AT = Ta + 0.348×e − 0.70×ws + 0.70×Q/(ws + 10) − 4.25

Time for a day trip to the Sunshine Coast...driving to Peregian Beach for the first appt, wondering if I should throw in the boardies for a swim between appts - damn, don't think I have enough time.

Might have lunch on the beach though - or at least a cafe overlooking it.

Yesterday I reversed Bossreggies law of chocolates.Had a really good crew in the F cabin of AA175 DFW-NRT yesterday.Mid flight when it was quiet I went to the galley to thank the crew noting they had had a hard time in the last 12 months and wished them better times for the coming year.One of the FAs then called me sweetie and gave me chocolates each time I ventured to the front.:shock::cool:;)

Thanks Oz for that link. With my two years of compulsory high school science let's hope I can follow it! Cheers

Nice is that nice does.

It is I, Leclerc !

Had a nice day trip out to the country side today. Went to Murarrie....

What were you doing out my side of town, you should have said hello.
Town? Huh! More like village. ;)

The luggage store moved out that way and I didn't have any spare time. It already took 2h 15m from Toowong-Murarrie via Roma St and return.

Shouldn't you be in the air by now?
You should know better!

Great flight anyway. Managed quite well in 1A (thanks to you know who?) on a newly configured 767 (intl config as well) with a decent beef dish, small bottle of sparkling and 3 Crowns.

But on a downer disappointed with iPads on offer and seat is reclined too far back already for my liking. I had to keep leaning forward for comfort. :(

JohnK have you been corrupted by the Crown beer, the seat 1A or something else. Welcome to business class!
