Tigerair Australia Delays/Cancellations

TT256, the 1645 hours MEL to SYD on Friday 21 April has been cancelled.

Competitors QF and JQ and stablemate VA also have multiple cancellations into and out of MEL, where it is gloomy and rainy.

TT242 (1330 hours MEL - SYD, A320 VH-VNO) did not take off until 1555 hours, so it should be blocks on in SYD at about 1706, 131 minutes behind schedule.

TT540, the 1540 hours from MEL up to BNE is expected to depart almost two and a half hours late at 1800.

The 1535 hours TT565 from OOL down to MEL was in the sky at 1652 this afternoon; A320 VH=VNB should arrive at 1912 hours, 77 minutes late.

Interesting usage of QQ F100 airframes on TT flights
The seating on these aircraft are in Premium economy class being 34in. The patrons of TT would be pleasantly surprised by all the extra leg room- most would not have a clue what aircraft they are sitting in and would probably assume it's the same across the TT brand?.

About 2 years ago QQ acquired a large number of F100 from Austrian Airlines (OS) if I recall in return for OS becoming a minor shareholder in QQ. Most of these continue to operate in Europe under Alliance Aviation Slovakia banner with a common heavy maintenance in Europe -so QQ F100 gets ferried there for HM too.
Around this time or shortly thereafter VA announced that the Embraer and ATR would be divested. Additionally TT and VA was going to replace the A320 with a single aircraft type in the B737-xx_.

I suspect with ebb and flows of the aircraft business that VA/TT thought that wet leasing F100 from QQ would be very cost effective excercise and the 100 seat fits in with using aircraft in a tightening capacity environment.

These aircraft are quite rare and with the demise (bankruptcy) of Fokker, parts will become sought after which is probably my why QQ bought 15 of OS at about 1M a piece. Alliance also bought a stash of spare engines for these aircraft to be used a spares/parts.

In further on Saturday 22 April, TT464 (mid afternoon 1500 hours ADL - MEL that took off at 1541, operated by QQ aircraft F100 VH-FKJ as appears increasingly common for TT flights) should arrive at 1723 hours, 33 late.

F100 VH-UQW on TT529 (the 1510 hours BNE - MEL that did not take off until 1744) should arrive at 1950 tonight, 135 minutes late.

QQ appears to be operating an increasing number of TT flights. Advice as to whether these are timetabled weeks in advance or reflect aircraft substitions when a TT A320 aircraft fails would be great.

From remarks I made in previous posts, it looks like this arrangement commenced in recent weeks.

Thursday 27 April 2017 has TT264, the 1825 hours MEL - SYD having taken off at 1925 with arrival estimated as 2038, 48 minutes late. Aircraft is QQ's F100 VH-UQW.

This is the first time I have observed the 'subbed' F100 on a MEL - SYD working but it won't be the last.

TT555, the 1035 hours OOL - MEL that was airborne at 1124 (F100 VH-FKJ) is arriving at 1339 hours, 44 minutes late.

Do we know what % of Tigers network is operated by Alliance currently? What service does Alliance offer onboard?

On Wednesday 3 May 2017 F100 VH-XWM on TT252, the 1530 hours from MEL to SYD that took off at 1609 should arrive at 1726, 31 minutes late.

Later on 3 May, A320 VH-VNF (the 1650 hours TT314 ADL up to BNE that took off extremely late at 2047) should arrive 190 minutes late at 2250 hours.

TT504 (Thursday 4 May 2017 HBA - MEL that was timetabled to depart at 1750 hours, A320 VH-VNR) took off at 1910; arrival should be at about 2024 tonight, 74 minutes tardy. This looks like delaying the 1940 hours from MEL across to ADL, TT471, until about 2100 although Melbourne Airport's website unrealistically claims '2045 hours.'

UPDATE: TT471 took off from MEL at about 2105, so arrival should be at approximately 2202 hours, 37 late.

Tuesday 9 May 2017 has TT448 (0945 hours ADL - MEL that departed at 1022, F100 VH-UQW) likely to arrive 31 minutes late at 1206.

Monday 15 May 2017 has fog in BNE (worst) and MEL affecting flights.

TT520, the 1030 hours MEL - BNE has been cancelled as is TT513, the 0945 hours arrival in MEL ex BNE.

The 0905 hours MEL - CFS is expected to depart an hour tardy (TT700.)

Later on 15 May, TT500, the 0920 hours from HBA up to MEL that was airborne at 1013 hours is arriving at about 1126, 46 minutes tardy with A320 VH-VNQ.

TT397 (1225 hours PPP - SYD, VH-VNK) was airborne at 1350, with a 1557 (72 minutes late) arrival looking likely.

In further on Monday 15 May, TT529, the mid afternoon 1510 hours from BNR down to MEL that was airborne at 1614 (F100 VH-FKJ), another Alliance Airlines-operated flight for Tigerair should arrive at 1831, 56 minutes late.

Tuesday 16 May has TT218 (A320 VH-VNH), the 0905 hours MEL - SYD not having taken off until 1054 with arrival predicted at 1206 hours, 91 minutes behind schedule.

TT513, the 1410 hours HBA up to MEL has had a shocker of a Thursday 18 May afternoon with takeoff for A320 VH-VNO at 1807. Arrival in the Victorian capital is predicted to be at 1919, 229 minutes tardy.

Earlier it operated TT247, the 1350 hours SYD - MEL that arrived at around 1534 hours, just nine minutes late but was then tasked to run the very late 1215 hours MEL - HBA, TT503 that was airborne at 1628 hours this afternoon.

This looks like another aircraft had failed.

Tt247 (A320 VH-VNO, the 1350 hours SYD - MEL that was airborne at 1445) should arrive at around the 1558 mark, 33 minutes tardy on Friday 19 May.

Later on Friday 19 May 2017, TT256 has emerged from a holding pattern above Crookwell NSW. It is the 1645 hours MEL - SYD that was airborne about 20 minutes late at 1721, but is likely to arrive 39 minutes late at 1849 hours in the early evening. VH-VNB is the A320.

TT644 (ADL across to SYD, A320 VH-VNG) is predicted to arrive at around 2055 hours, 35 minutes late.

With BNE apparently again foggy, this time on Monday 22 May, TT514, the 0700 hours MEL - BNE did not take off until 0758. Arrival of A320 VH-VNQ should be at 0954, 39 minutes late.

Tuesday 23 May has TT524 (1215 hours MEL up to BNE) delayed in its departure until an expected 1400 this afternoon. This is due to the scheduled 1135 hours arrival in MEL, TT448 ex ADL running not far short of two hours late. VH-XWM is the F100 that earlier on TT449 was almost 90 minuteslate becoming airborne from MEL on its way to ADL, this flight being an 0820 hours timetabled MEL departure.
