Tigerair Australia Delays/Cancellations

Congestion in the air or on the ground is not usually a problem on Saturday evenings at Australian airports, the slackest evening of the week, but on Saturday 17 June TT537 (B738 VH-VUD) must be suffering from other problems as this scheduled 1925 hours BNE - MEL flight was not airborne until 2123. Arrival is suggested as 2244, 54 minutes tardy.

Dealyed by a holding pattern into SYD, Tt206 on Monday 19 June 2017 (B738 VH-VUD), the 0645 hours from MEL that was not in the sky until 0724 should arrive at roughly 0848 hours, 33 late.

On Thursday 22 June, TT213, the 0700 hours SYD - MEL (A320 VH-VNF) took off at 0806 with arrival suggested as 0919 hours, 44 minutes late.

Later on 22 June, TT371 (1315 hours lunchtime BNE down to SYD that was in the sky at 1423, A320 VH-VNF) should pull in to its allocated arrival gate at 1548, 58 minutes tardy.

B738 VH-VUD on TT413 (1615 hours sort of mid afternoon MEL across to PER that was not upwardly mobile until 1702 hours) should arrive on Thursday 22 June at approximately 1902 hours, 32 minutes tardy.

VH-VUB, also a B738 on TT287 (2145 hours SYD - MEL that appears to have become airborne four minutes after the curfew's 2300 end, that is at 2304 hours) should arrive 69 minutes late at 0029 hours on Friday 23. It would be interesting to know what criteria was argued for the 'delegate; to give a curfew dispensation.

On Friday 23 June 2017, TT665, the 1735 hours MEL - CBR is estimated to instead depart at 1900 hours.

Saturday 24 June will see TT206, the relatively early morning 0645 hours MEL - SYD cancelled, as will be TT247, the 1350 hours early afternoon SYD down to MEL flight.

UPDATE: TT668, the return flight of TT665, should arrive back in MEL at 2216 hours, 116 minutes late with A320 VH-VNG ex CBR.

TT247 (1458 takeoff of the 1350 hours Sunday 25 June SYD - MEL, B738 VH-VUB) should arrive at 1621 hours, 56 minutes behind the timetable.

Continuing with Sunday 25 June, TT535 (1850 hours BNE down to MEL, B738 VH-VUB) did not take off until 2019 this evening, so arrival will be at least 45 minutes late.

A320 VH-VNH on TT356 (1130 hours Monday 26 June 2017 CFS - MEL that did not take off until 1256) should pull in to its designated Melbourne tarmac spot at 1448, 78 minutes late.

Later on Monday 26 June, TT279 (2025 hours SYD - MEL that was not airborne until 2127, A320 VH-VNB) should be at its designated MEL airport gate at around the 2253 hours mark, 53 minutes late.

TT565 (1535 hours mid afternoon OOL down to MEL that took off at 1630, A320 VH-VNF) should arrive at roughly 1843, 48 minutes late.

The 1725 hours SYD - MEL TT263 (B738 VH-VUB) is also late with it in the sky at 1824 for a projected 1951 hours arrival, 51 minutes late.

VH-VNB makes the trifecta, with its TT570 (1705 hours MEL - OOL) not having become airborne until 1851 hours. Arrival is estimated as 2051, 101 minutes tardy.

Saturday 1 July 2017 sees TT367, the 1115 hour BNE down to SYD that was in the sky at 1200 'high noon' arriving 31 minutes late at 1321 hours with A320 VH-VNJ

TT641 (Monday 3 July 2017 1505 hours mid afternoon from SYD across to wine capital ADL, A320 VH-VNO) was airborne at 1613 hours. Arrival is expected at roughly 1720, half an hour late.

The 1535 hours OOL down to MEL, TT565 (VH-VNB) was in the sky at 1623, so it should be at its allocated airport gate in the southern capital at around 1847 hours, 52 minutes late.

Tuesday 4 July sees TT213 (A320 VH-VNF, the 0700 hours SYD down to MEL that did not take off until 0759) likely to arrive at 0930, 55 minutes tardy. This looks like delaying the 0905 hours MEL - SYD TT218 by about an hour in its departure.

TT427, the 0725 hours MEL - ADL and the returning ADL - MEL TT446 due back in MEL at 1040 hours have been cancelled.

In further 4 July delays, TT256 (1650 hours late afternoon MEL - SYD that was airborne at 1811 hours, A320 VH-VNK) should arrive at around the 1925 hours mark, 70 minutes late.

TT383, the 1830 hours BNE - SYD that took off at 1932 (A320 VH-VNG) should arrive at its destination at about 2057, 52 minutes late.

TT530 (Friday 7 July 1540 hours MEL - BNE that did not take off until 1640) should arrive in BrisVegas at roughly 1830 hours, 35 minutes late with B738 VH-VUD.

Later on 7 July during the mid evening, it was looking as if fog at BNE may be creating havoc.

While I will leave the expert commentary on fog to the meteorologists and our participating aviators, it looks like this fog may have swirled in very quickly and perhaps was unexpected in its severity as so many flights have been 'caught.' When heavy fog is forecast, it seems ATC does not give departure clearance until it has some confidence that flights may be able to get into an airport.

A320 VH-VNP from ADL to BNE on TT314, the 1650 hours that was in the sky at 1737 got as far as a little south of Toowoomba (Qld) but has turned southwards and may be diverting to SYD as at 2105. This flight was timetabled into BNE at 2040 hours.

TT536 (1830 hours MEL - BNE, A320 VH-VNB) should be arriving back in MEL (to which it has diverted at 2316 hours compared with its timetabled BNE arrival of 2045 hours. It only got as far north as Tamworth NSW before holding and then turning back.

There may be some aircraft out of position on Saturday morning 8 July meaning cancellations and late running.

Presumably related to Friday 7 May's mid evening fog in BNE and consequent aircraft (and staff) being out of position, TT518, the 0935 hours MEL - BNE on Saturday 8 is to suffer an extraordinary delay with departure delayed until 1715 in the late afternoon.

The 0700 hours SYD - MEL TT213 was cancelled as is TT267 (1730 hours SYD - MEL), while the scheduled 1315 hours arrival in MEL ex CBR, TT664 is instead expected to pull in at 1530 mid afternoon.

The CFS - MEL TT705 is predicted to arrive two hours late at 2030 this evening.

TT555 (1035 hours OOL down to MEL that was in the sky at 1135, A320 VH-VNB) is expected to arrive at 1349 hours, 54 minutes late.
