I made a purchase on this card online from o/s, although the amount was charged in AUD. I have now checked my transactions online and note that I have been charged a foreign currency conversion fee. Is this usual? I normally only purchase from o/s using my 28 degree card because it is fee free, so I'm not sure if other card providers charge this fee even if it is charged in AUD.

You'll notice it isn't a foreign currency conversion fee - it's an overseas transaction fee.

Don't fall for Dynamic Currency Conversion again where you get hit with a bad FX rate twice in the one transaction.

Aahh, ok, thanks for that  ! I won't be using it again on o/s purchases, it was a one off trying to get my spend up to gain the additional 10,000 points. I will be back to the 28 degree card from now on.

I also used the card online while overseas with Groupon AU buying a $35 voucher for a restaurant in Melbourne.

Alongside that transaction there is a charge for 'CURRENCY CONVERSION FEE' of $1.05 i.e. 3% of $35.

I haven't queried it with them yet but I'm a little confused!

Groupon's merchant account may be located overseas, even though they charge in AUD.

Another company who is similar is holidays autos. They charge in AUD but on a card like this you'll get hit the overseas conversion fee.

Stupid question of the day... is there an interest free period? I can't seem to find one. Cheers.

Do they make it clear that this will happen ? Because if not I'd say you have strong grounds for a complaint.

Holidays autos say something to the effect of they are not liable for any conversion fees. I don't know about Groupon.

I certainly didn't see anything to that effect. I just had a look at their Facebook page - wow, what a tale of customer service woe - I suspect a complaint over $1 is really not worth it! Won't be buying anything from them again though based on what I read!

The first Tranche of points came through over night. Not coincidentally, I feel, at the same time that my first statement was issued. Still waiting for the points from that statement spend, but patience is a virtue.

two days ago i thought i'd just set up bpay on my internet banking for the credit card, so i made a quick $100 payment and overnight the 20,000 pts showed up

Got my 20k today, but haven't got a statement or made a payment yet.

Finally downloaded my first statement. They charged me the annual fee! I thought this thing was supposed to be fee free for the first year. Phone call to come. :(

Went to make a purchase for a cheap airfare on Scoot, which requires a Mastercard securecode at the end of the transaction. Rang up Jetstar Card Services to register for Securecode and they had no clue about it, suggesting first that I put in the CCV digits and then suggested the ATM pin number! Can I assume that the Jetstar 'Platinum' mastercard does not support Securecode, making it useless for a lot of online merchants?

if youre shopping online with a merchant that accepts securecode or verify by visa then it should automatically take you to a website to enroll in the program (or at least this is what happened with my visa). you shouldnt need to actually need to contact the card issuer etc.
