Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

The availability Velocity sees on SQ is directly linked with KrisFlyer Business Saver availability.

I don't think that's the case anymore. Or not always the case. When I was looking quite extensively at MEL-SIN-Europe and v/v two months ago for later this year there was a massive disparity in what the VA website offered vs SQ Saver J . Basically less than half of the Saver award seats visible on SQ were offered via VA's booking engine.

Yes its a VA redemption on SQ. Maybe I didn't make that clear. But we are in the VA redemption thread.

I noticed this too, some flight codes were completely unbookable in any day via VA, e.g. SQ227 all other flight codes from SIN to MEL showed up

My apologies, I misread the thread and my experience is with KrisFlyer. It may be that seat choice is restricted for Velocity redemptions. But still worth checking that your booking has been ticketed.

Try calling the SQ call centre with your booking reference and see whether they will do it for you.

If you haven't already tried it, perhaps give the Singapore Airlines app a go? Though it really should just function in the same way as the website, since the app effectively just loads the MMB/seat selection page from the site.

I just loaded an upcoming trip (VA J award on SQ) through both the SQ site and app and can select seats for all SQ legs both ways.

Yep same thought all avenues for me. I might try ring up again and see if i get a different result. I thought it was due to flying with infants and being booked in a bassinet seat, but the last agent I talked to was adamant it was due to it being a VA booking so who knows.

Just booked SIN-BKK for 26,000 pts in J on 359.

Seems like quite good value, and all sorted via the SQ website (seats, book the cook, etc).

Yes, I have little trouble on the few Velocity Redemptions I have done in selecting seats using the SQ Amadeus booking reference. I just wish I could get my WP number into the booking as seat selection is sometimes better (row 11 for example).

Called VA last weekend to book a multi city from MSP to Perth. After being on hold for 1.5hours I was told that they couldn’t book seats from the US. Ended up booking SF-SIN-PER and will book my internal flight closer to the time. leaving US in May. So excited to be flying business. Any seats I should be pre selecting?

VA has always been fussy booking multiple carriers (even themselves) on a ticket with a partner so perhaps the operator was confused.

"While Rohrlach is hesitant to “commit to the exact date” on transfers taking place once again, he says “we’re definitely working as hard as we can on that because we know it’s really, attractive to out members… I’m pretty confident we'll have some good news soon.”

If I recall that's a recycled article from Jan/Feb 2022 on the same site. Soon could either mean tomorrow or Soon could either mean '3 months' for example

If you search for flights from Sydney to Singapore and then Singpore to London there are business class seats. There is just a big gap between flights. In other words, if you are willing to spend time at Changi airport then you are able to make the journey in Business. I was thinking of doing this then book a hotel at Changi.

Does anyone know what the best way to do this is or has anyone actually done it? Is it best to book both legs seperately or ring up to make the booking?

I would ring up and book it under one ticket as a multi-city journey. Only so that if you decide to cancel then you only pay one set of cancellation fees.
