Velocity Shop and (NOT) earn

Damn... I wish I'd known that Appliances Online were an earning partner before buying stuff a few months back.

I can give the same sentiments from a few more people in this thread, and wish I had seen it earlier.

I purchased a new 2012 Macbook Air via Shop and Earn to the Apple Store back on the 16th of June last year (Apple had a 4 points for $1 spend), and it came to about $2500; so a nice even 10,000 points or so.

After 10 days, the transaction was not showing in my account at all, so i emailed about it and was asked to provide some further details (3 July). On the 2nd of August they finally got back to me and told me that the purchase was not accepted because i did not click the Shop Now button (ok.. but i did), and they were giving me 500 (actually 501) "good will" points.

Not pleased with the response as I had followed the directions, I liaised and on the 6th, they were going to give me another 500 points as good will.

Still not pleased, as I had followed the process, (and 1000 points is very different to 10,000 points), I contacted them again and on the 8th of August they said that they had agreed to credit the points I was owed. On being credited, i had been given another 3,607 points (making it a total of 4,708 points). This was equivalent to 2 points per $1 for the non-GST amount.

When i ran up and asked what was going on, as I had purchased during a 4 points per $1 promotion, they said "that's all the points that were approved because you didn't do the right thing". At this stage I was over it and given up, and i now feel ripped of 5000 points.

I have a future Apple Store purchase coming up, and I've decided i'm going to screen record the process and send it to them if there is issues this time.

I had to keep harassing VA with manual points claims for the same transactions (over and over again) for over a year... I eventually sent them an email saying ~"Until I am confident that I will earn points in the Velocity program from your earning partners in line with the published Terms & Conditions, I will be booking all travel with competing airlines and alliances until such time as this issue is resolved to my satisfaction." I had sent them everything - including receipts for all transactions, and also a summary listing of all transactions (incl. dates, amounts, entitled points, invoice numbers etc)... by the time that they finally bothered to reply, I had flown enough with Qantas to go from Bronze to Platinum, after holding VA Gold for about 5 years. I failed to re-qualify for VA Gold, and while they did give me another year of Gold for free, I've only earned 20SCs this membership year (ending at the end of April) - the rest of my travel has been with QF and oneworld... too little too late really!

Moral of the story - don't hold your breath, but certainly do take screenshots (particularly if there is a special bonus offer - as this was another of my issues)... lol :)

Since the drop in Ebay points, I made a purchase, but did not receive the points pending email. Normally I get it within 24 hours. I'm not going to chase this one up as it's only a small purchase.

I haven't received the transaction email in a while for eBay, but the transaction appears in the list on the shop and earn site.

I just got a confirmation from shop and don't earn today (Tuesday 19 March):

Wow. 4 1/2 months. Better late than never I guess (I can't even remember what I bought now)!

Must have heard us talking...!

Your purchase from Apple Store Australia on 26 Nov 2012 has now been approved, and as a result, 1454 Velocity Points will be credited to your Velocity Account within 24 hours.

One thing does work well - Westfield generated Velocity points. The difference is that you type your Velocity number into the Westfield site. 29 days later, to the tee, the points appear.
They say they will be processed within 28 days, so I'd say they process at 28 days, and credit one day later.

I was not too worried about these points but got the same email last night. There must have been some audit and fix.

Your purchase from Apple Store Australia on 23 Nov 2012 has now been approved, and as a result, 211 Velocity Points will be credited to your Velocity Account within 24 hours.

I was also happy to get the Virgin email this morning from an Apple purchase in November of last year that I had completely forgotten about. It would be nice if they could get this (amongst others) system working effectively!

My points pending email for my purchase on 7 March 2013 turned up on 4 April 2013...

Anyone have any experience with apple store orders showing up in pending transactions with apparently random points values assigned? I ordered a customised iMac and a few accessories (so a respectable number of points in total) and it's showing up as 4 separate transactions with no relationship to the dollar amounts I can see (although it's perhaps close-ish to sensible values at 1 point per dollar instead of 2).

I suppose I should be grateful the pending transactions showed up at all ;) !

I found that if items were invoiced and shipped separately, points would show separately; ie one points post per invoice. If something is in stock, your CC would be charged immediately and you get an invoice soon after. If you have placed a build-to-order item, you'll only pay for it/be invoiced when it's dispatched from China.

And remember the points are awarded on ex-GST prices...

Ahah - I'd forgotten about that! This could just about explain it, although they're only showing 1 point per dollar instead of 2.

Man, that bugs me! It's got to be close to false advertising, given it's very specifically shown as '2 velocity points on each $1 spent'...

Just discovered by accident that GoDaddy pays 14 points to the dollar, (and we've been using them for years - d'oh). So put through a huge one, however they only credited around 6.7 points/$. No GST or shipping in the transaction amount either. Have just sent off screen dumps and so on for investigation. Anyone else had this problem?
