Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

No, I don't think so - but I can't find anything that describes it (like you did) in the T&C's.

I only qualified for Plat (first time) in mid-Jan @1k SC's. I have done 650 SC's since then (some some have understandably dropped off). I would have thought that an additional 500 SC's (rolling) might get me there - but frustrated that I can't be certain.

MEL trip will get me 120 SC's and SYD 20. So this gets me close. A trip (to be planned) to PER in July would push me over, so long as no SC's drop off. Maybe I give VA one way and QF the other....decisions, decisions

Partner Gold and Partner Platinum are not determined by the running balance, "Status Credit Balance", but are determined by the "Status credits earned since dd Mmm yyyy". Once you reach 800 (to re-qualify Platinum), then you need to earn an additional 500 SCs to reach Partner Gold, and then another 500 (1000 above Platinum re-qual) to reach Partner Platinum.

With Velocity, the rolling balance is really only relevant while you are trying to initially qualify for a certain level. Once you reach that level, it becomes a chase to re-qualify in the 12 month period (with a new start date being the date you qualified for that level).

Some are right .... the title of this thread does need to be changed ....... Velocity / Virgin websites are ABYSMAL!!! ...... that has a better ring. Current 970 SC trying to book a BNE/MEL/BNE trip .....tried three time google / firefox etc etc .....locks up on the vinegar stroke very time ....... what a joke ........ If I was a share holder I'd be doing nut even more ..... good people wanting to hand over good money .....but a website that won't let them I'd like to know how many ppl just give up and go to the QF site?

Just tried to book flights for my mum MOV-TSV to visit grandmother who's been flown to Townsville Hospital. An itenerary between those two airports just don't exist on the site.

FFS Virgin. Get it sorted. MOV-BNE + BNE-TSV = MOV-TSV. Simple. How can an airline that's got it so sorted in the air and on the ground mess it up so much online? Even when I want to fly VA the website makes it almost impossible.

Yes I know its painful and annoying. Seems impossible to do multicity on the VA web site. Most people on the boards here would just phone VA and tell them you will not paying the booking fee. I think Rex also fly direct TSV-MOV but not sure about frequency and schedule or if it would work for you.

Maybe they have the same team of developers as Singapore Airlines!

In the last week I have had:
-Inability to set up family pooling
-Inability to retro claim for flights flown (apparently I imagined that my partner was sitting next to me on the flight!)
-Issue with wrong 2-4-1 flights balance fixed (after months) then immediately reoccur after the flights were flown (promised call back from Gold line never came)
-No seat selection offered during booking process
-2 passengers travelling on the same PNR, same fare obviously - 2 different amounts of base points posted (2nd time this has happened recently)

Thanks for the summary, pretty much what I have seen as well. All documented here:

Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH - Blogs - The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community

If you see anything that has been fixed or that is still broken - leave a comment there, maybe once Lindsay Wilson has recovered from the foetal position or his chanting he may want to update his VA contacts with this list and see if VA has any response to the items raised there. Or he may have a life and is simply enjoying flying around on QF at the moment so may not be applicable to him at the moment! :)

Took me 35 minutes to book a return trip to HBA yesterday. I knew my dates & which flights I wanted so should have taken me 10 mins tops, and would have if it weren't for the websites having hissy fits

eastwest101, I have returned my seat to the upright position and folded my tray table - none of this foetal position in Business.

I must be fortunate that now everything appeears to be working for me...I can book flights, see flights and they are even posting on time (flights BNE/MEL/BNE on Monday were showing this morning).

I have alerted VFF and my internal contact to your blog. Should be interesting to see what gets fixed in the upcoming upgrade. Love your work on keeping the blog updated.

Upcoming upgrade? Wasn't that a few weeks ago where nothing appeared to change? This is all a bit like Ground Hog day!

PS....I also found a cheap laugh with your spelling mistake (appeears). When you read that sentence with a Cheech and Chong accent it's actually quite funny ! Coincidentally, partaking in a Cheech and Chong herbal remedy would be one way to make this whole Sabre transition make some kind of sense .

The Velocity website was down earlier in the month. VA != VFF.

Getting VFF on the VA platform has been their biggest problem.

The Velocity rep posted a while back that seat selection between booking and ahead of online checkin was something expected to be fixed June, so I'm hoping Lindsay was referring to functional upgrades to the VA website rather than more back-end work on VFF.

The website really is just plain stupid at times, so I can book SYD-LAX return in this sale either in saver or flexi, but if I try to book one way on the same departure date, saver all sold out and flexi $250 more.....crazy!

Not completely crazy or unusual.

Many fares - especially international - can be very different for return-basis versus one-way. This is fare rules and yields at play. QF is a big culprit on this one too, as well as a swathe of full cost (legacy) carriers (try intra-Europe flights: on a return ticket, you can access the cheapest fares, whereas on one-ways, all you can book are fully flexible fares!)

That said, I do remember ages ago that VA prided itself on offering very reasonable one-way fares, something which is much unlike several full cost carriers. Of course, they could all be sold out for all we know.

I think you're there LW. 800 for your plat requal and then 500 more for partner gold = 1300SCs.

Phone them ASAP!

Well I bit the bulllet before my running 1,500 SC balance dropped and rang Platinum Desk. Seems that I am entitled to give Mrs LW Partner Gold :confused: so I didn't say no. CSA filled out the request and has sent it off to fulfillment - shiny Gold Card on the way to Mrs LW :p.

She said that I was very close to Partner Plat, but her screen didn't give me an update on number. Okay, I'm not sure either ;)

Well the package for my wife arrived today. She rang me to understand why Virgin had sent her a package - when I explained she merely said "Oh". Underwhelming...

Did you have anyone else on your candidate list for your Partner status? :p

I fly at 10am on Tuesday. I got the reminder email this morning and at about 1030am tried to check in using the frustratingly awful web check-in where you keep having to give your flight booking number and name and destination. It's been several hours since the 48 hours before flying cut-off but I still get this message:

Web Check-In is available from 48 hours to 40 minutes prior to departure. If you are too late to check in, please proceed directly to the airport for assistance. If you are too early, please try again later.

Arrrggghhh!!!!
