Vinomofo Wine Deals

Did anyone order the last Adelaide hills sparkling and received it care to share what it was? 
I bought some. It was the Chain of Ponds Diva NV. I've had mixed feelings about some other recent Chain of Ponds offerings (a lot of their stuff tends to end up on Vinomofo, Grays Online etc), but the Diva is very drinkable - it's a blush colour, nice and crisp, and similar to the Bird In Hand sparkling we buy a lot of.

you gotta love VM marketing ...just got an email for the big boom Friday sale...click on to the site and ALL the 50+ wines advertised are "Sorry all Gone" lol

Thanks :) Will have to have a think if it pops up again. Just about to finish off the starvedog lane we got before.

OT but she just returned from a holiday back home and brought back a "2005 Bodegas Fernández de Piérola Rioja Reserva" that her family recommended, anyone know much about Spanish wine......

Not familiar with that wine, but general info. It will be a Tempranillo based wine, possibly 100%. Reserva indicates has some decent barrel and bottle aging. Seems to be about a US$25. Should be a decent wine which will go well with food.

Thanks Daver6 - I am looking forward to enjoying it with some wood fired pizza tomorrow night. Only Tempranillo is mentioned on the label.

Very average website though. I think they could take a leaf out of the 'fo's book and spend some cash to update it

They are pretty small compared to VM and not intending to get that size, completely different style of operation.

They are actually working on a new, mobile-friendly web site, I've been doing a little beta-testing for them, but it will be a fair while yet I think.

Nice people, small range of interesting wines at generally good prices, great service.

The NV or the 2005?

2005 was a Starvedog Lane chardy/pinot noir (champaign blend). Haven't touched it yet.

Don't know where you found "all the posts" - my search resulted in a reference to one post only (to Brangayne). And that was only a maybe.....

Sure - that might not be it - I mentioned before that no one who ordered it actually confirmed. However the attributes all matched last time, and no one had any better suggestions.

Today's offering appears to be exactly the same - down to the missing ABV. So, if the guess was wrong last time, it's wrong this time. Don't think it's a new offering though.

A new website that's easier to navigate and read, doesn't have to mean they are competing or trying to be one of the big boys. There are so many website designers out there now you can get an interactive website for as little as $5000 that actually looks like they're in the year 2015. Just because they're small doesn't mean they don't want to increase sales and get busier. That's the whole point isn't it.
But hey, it's all about the wine in the end

I said they are working on it...

The current site is off the shelf and essentially free (apart from hosting costs) as they took the first steps from Hotel bottle shop to online sales. I haven't discussed their business plan, but I suspect it's quite modest, they are doing pretty well in their little niche, despite the site limitations.

I'd rather an ugly site and all the good attributes rather than a pretty site and lacklustre offerings, prices, service. Being offended by a colour scheme and dodgy shopping cart is a pretty superficial reason not to consider the other aspects.

Now if you want really ugly and deficient, try here: http://www.discountwines.com/

Might also want to decant for sediment. Suspect letting it get some air time too will help. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I'm quite a Rioja fan.

Bahahaha, now that takes the cake:lol:

BTW, was not offended by their site, and it wouldn't stop me from shopping there

You will have to give us your Squid review if you have one in the next month. I have bought two of the 6pack pinots. So far only tried three. The duck sauce was good. The riposte was good but only after about 90 minutes. the layla was stunning. I will be having the tomich for lunch tomorrow so with two good reviews and one bad so far, we will see...then taste.

Thoughts on the Tomich Bee?
