Vinomofo Wine Deals

Hm .. I smelt a marketing rodent in the Mitolo vat , but was swept along in the lemming crush.
Mine is due today.. serves me right .

Unless the wine was absolutely 'cooked' you don't have a long term problem.

There's nothing you can do. Any damage that was going to have been done is now done.

I read somewhere that a bottle of wine left in a car at 45 degrees for 1 hour will spoil it.

Mine is awaiting pickup, so will get it thursday, so by thursday night VM will know if they are getting it back :)

FWIW - My Mitolo is in the "mail room", I haven't collected it as I am travelling for a few weeks.

Re: Vinomofo Wine Deals - Mitolo Cantiniere

I think Wozza upthread put a decent review of the Mitolo across (well, much better than I could put it). I find it hard to define. It's certainly a nice wine to drink. Is it worth $68? No way. If I bought this in a bricks and mortar store for $20, I would consider it a good buy. That said, it's probably not worth much more than that.

I'll be keeping mine, I feel like it's got a few years til it hits its straps. At the least I'll be able to drink it in future and remember the 'uproar' this wine has created on AFF:lol:

Re: Vinomofo Wine Deals - Mitolo Cantiniere

Anyone going to jump on todays black market deal or pass on it?

I am going to open a Mitolo tonight and will report back my thoughts

Posted the following on http://www.australianfrequentflyer....lovers/nice-wines-i-have-drunk-53868-417.html

Tried the 'fo Mitolo Cantiniere 2013 on Saturday with some yummy Antipasto and soft cheeses. Agree with some previous reviews here - bit closed at first and needs some time to breathe and open up. Not a big or complex wine but soft and smooth after an hour in the decanter. Think this one will do well after some medium term cellaring.

Wont be sending back but probably not a $68 wine. Strange how the Mitolo site has sold out?? maybe off-loaded to the 'fo?

Any reason you are posting this twice? Anyone who is interested can find it on the other thread.

If you're speaking of the 2011 Shiraz ($70>$21) - What's the chance this is a Maverick Trial Hill? I'm trying to check Maverick wines site at the moment but it seems to have crashed...

I've sent the fo an email RE: potential heat damage. I'll just see what they say. I might have it delivered to the mailroom at work from now on, but they really don't like it. Better than having cooked wine though I guess.

I would send it back straight away, but I do want to try it and find out what the fuss is about. And seeming as though we basically know it was a fo special, I doubt they'd be able to replace it!

It's no longer listed as 5 red stars, just 5 stars on VM. They seem to do that a fair bit!

but VM is starting to loose bit of credibility here...
Back to the Mitolo which I have not tried ..but on principle it is starting to become off putting on how the whole deal was constructed and how they arrived at the RRP and advertised it for 70% off...and on that principle I think I might just return it

'starting' is not the correct word.

A quick searh of this thread will reveal the all too frequent instances where VM have gotten basic details wrong with their listings.

All a tad sad , the party has probably been over for a while now but we were having so much fun we (well some of us) didn't notice.

Otoh .. they are just a wine shop , so no paragons of virtue .. nobody forced me to hit the button.

The wine is whatever it is, regardless of whether they put 5 Red Stars or 5 Stars on the webpage. It just makes it a little bit harder to figure out what it is. Anyway, they've fixed it.

If such a thing is such a deal breaker for you, then just don't buy from them. And in the event that you really wanted a wine from a 5 Red Star producer (regardless of what it is), you can always send it back for free no questions asked.

Methinks this is really #firstworldproblems

A victim of their own success?

I'm still pretty happy, cant complain about the deals I've picked up (though I am fairly selective). Very happy with the Mea Culpa Shiraz that just arrived, especially as the new vintage (now called Syrah) has gone up impressively to $75 a bottle. Might crack a Mitolo this weekend and see what all the fuss is about.
