Always good to get a member commenting on a wine one way or the other for those of us who haven't tried it Warlock (in regard to the Capel Vale). I must say the Allouran merlot almost tempted me to break the price barrier and grab a case but alas it has finished it's run for now, the review by Phillip White is such an enticing piece of writing that I could nearly taste the wine leaping off the page!
d r i n k s t e r: POLE-AXED BY BLUE POLES VINEYARD
Blue Poles Allouran:
In one word - excellent wine.
Deep garnet, bouquet of subtle spice and plum with cassis edges. Alcohol is well balanced in a medium bodied wine with deliciously rich flavours dominated by red berries, violets and a savoury finish. Oak and tannins are soft but firm leaving you reaching for another glass.
Basham's Beach Tempranillo
A real contrast to my standard - West Cape Howe 2013 Tempy ('14 is ordinary).
Tawny to deep tawny, sweet ripe concentrated fruits dominated by blueberry and plums. Light to medium bodies wine with spicy and savoury finish. The alcohol is certainly there but not dominant. The finish is smoot and dominated by oak.
Figured I needed to start to describe the wine as I have tended down the path of "great, so so and wish I didn't spend the money"
Thanks to Warloc for the headsup on Blue Poles.
