Whiskymofo????
Should be interesting. On their signup page there's logos for Ardbeg, Lark, Whistlepig, Mars, Glenlivet, and Johnnie Walker. Wouldn't think whisky is a "must shift now or it will 'go off'" kind of product, but discounted whisky is fine by me!

I find that one dead tasty. Have been able to get it for a bit less a few times so maybe buy if you have credits or codes

Was much cheaper via Langtons Carpe Diem 2 years back. Would be a bit past it's prime at this point and cork is pretty average

Got this from my broker

The Unicorn Sale is back tomorrow! This is our favourite sale on the team, as we get access to so many aged and iconic wines.

Two years ago I bought a few bottles of Clarendon Hills Brookman Cabernet 2006 from Nicks. Some bottles were well past their prime, others great. Felt like a gamble.
All those Clarendon Hill were good buying at $12 back in the clearance days. I think I averaged 2 corked out of each dozen, so they’d need to be cheap for me to buy again.

That Mitolo Marsican got 89 points in the first review I found.

MARSICAN SHIRAZ - 2019

97 POINTS
Deep crimson. Intense blackberry, dark cherry, dark chocolate aromas with vanilla, marzipan notes. Well- concentrated blackberry dark chocolate marzipan flavours fine chocolaty textures, superb mid-palate volume and attractive minerally fresh acidity. Finishes firm with bittersweet/liquorice notes. Very good density and torque with alcohol in balance and should last the distance.
ANDREW CAILLARD MW, THE VINTAGE JOURNAL, DECEMBER 2022
96 POINTS

The big, brooding 2019 Marsican Shiraz delivers on every level, starting with fabulous fruit concertation and focus. Liquorice bullet, red wine reduction and roasted meat aromas rise up with lavish oak in solid support. Youthful and expressive, it then delivers waves of bold flavour with a swathe of well-ripened tannins supporting a finish of extraordinary length. This young bronco will deliver plenty in time but needs at least five years to hit its straps.
ANGUS HUGHSON, VINOUS, FEBRUARY 2023
96 POINTS

The 2019 Marsican Shiraz is concentrated and intense. Brilliant fruit depth reveals a wide splay of raspberry freshness on the mid-palate through finish, while the tannins wrap around the mouth and induce chew and smack. This is a really pleasurable, brilliant wine. It is ripe and will appeal hugely to those who are attracted to plush tannins and sweet fruit. It is hefty without being overweight. Cool. 14.8% alcohol, sealed under natural cork and wax.
ERIN LARKIN, WINE ADVOCATE, AUGUST 2023
95 POINTS

A big, heavy bottle for an impactful wine. Very dense. A morass of dark fruits, molten and almost llicorella of pungency, oozes across a landscape saturated with lavender, five-spice, licorice strap and mace. The oak, positioned well. The fruit, capable of handling almost anything thrown at it. Long and forceful. Southern RhĂ´ne of feel, without the tannic mettle. This has some way to go.

JAMESSUCKLING.COM, JULY 2023
93 POINTS

Inky, dark red and opaque in the glass. Heady aromas of dried herbs, cedar, underbrush, plum, mulberry and toasty, nutty oak. Full bodied, dark and powerfully flavoured. Plum, prune, earth and sweet spice flavours dominate the palate. Tannins and acidity are structured and provide plenty of shape.
AARON BRASHER, THE REAL REVIEW, AUGUST 2023
93 POINTS

Impressive, with warm baking spices that mingle with savoury black olive, touches of dark chocolate-covered espresso bean, intensely juicy cherry flavours and notes of raspberry puree. Shows terrific intensity and focus, with dense but wonderfully polished tannins. Drink now through 2034. 230 cases, 100 cases imported.

Any idea how much is the Marsican?

I asked the question but didn’t get a reply. My guess would be $80-$90?
What did they drop the $320 Grand Pappy to? The box is nice, but it would need to be $50-60 before I’d consider it. McGuigan Philosophy went from $150 to $40.

Grand Pappy was offered at $50 on VM but was also offered on the Langtons staff sale for $35. 2018 vintage. I got a bottle and tried it, thought it was very good. Interestingly The $500 First Pick was also offered at $50 around the traps.
