My experience is similar to most people here - this is the most frustrated credit card application I have ever experienced.
However, I do feel sorry for their Call Centre people. It is obvious that they are trying to answer queries without knowing anything about credit card applications?
In my last call to them, the young lady said they only need one more piece of important information from me before approving my application - she asked me to confirm whether I am the "director of the company" I am working at?
I am not sure why she asked me that? It should be clear in my application that I work full time for the company earning a monthly income! I am not a director and not sure what this got to do with my credit card application which should only be assessed on my income and ability to pay...
Anyway, they approved my application 15 minutes after the call.

Apologies if this has already been discussed....I've read the last several pages where I think I left off with this thread.

Has anyone who DIDN'T receive the email, but applied using the link to the promo page been successful in receiving the points and status credits?

I was expecting trouble but applied anyway.
one week later and one phone call to my accountant and I had it in my hand.

So last week I got a call from them after not hearing anything back from them for over a month. I said I thought they had rejected my application, and they said they hadn't but wanted documentary evidence of my private practice income (claimed they had been trying to ring me for weeks to which I responded "bulls..t"!)....I told them that I no longer wanted the card and to cancel my application but he said I would be missing out on 50000 DJ points:shock:...so I faxed that information to them. Got a call again the following morning wanting a copy of my mobile phone bill, at which time I said this was the last thing I was going to fax to them, and to never call me again!!! Of course, the next day, they rang again wanting to clarify my name (those that know me know my name is not complicated!), at which time I asked what is happening to my application, and was told a decision would be made soon....I'm not holding my breath and I really wished I had NEVEr applied for this card. If (and a big if) I get this card, I will put 7.5K spend on it, and as soon as the pts post, I will ring and cancel it, ignoring the 4 "buy one get one free ticket offer.:evil::evil:

...Let's see who gets appoved first, Princess!!
I got another call from Virgin Money yesterday despite me telling them never to call me again:shock:.....rang to confirm they had received confirmation of my private practice income. He then asked whether I would be faxing proof of my share dividends to them.....I exploded with a huge DYKWIA moment almost yelling at him stating that I had already provide prove that my income was over $x per year, which places me in the top x% of income earners in Australia, and that was all Virgin Money needed to know. I was not prepared to fax them anymore stuff, and I wanted my application cancelled immediately. He apologised, I hung up.....

...and then I got an email from them today saying my application had been approved with a modest but not unreasonable credit limit:shock::shock:. All up, 2.5 months to get the card approved from the time of my online apllication back in late November 2011. I hope getting the 50000 pts and 200 SCs once I have put 7.5k spend on the card will not be as challenging and difficult:evil::evil::evil:
.

Got the card easily enough however have been trying to sort out payment issues with their phone centre, has been very frustrating.
Before the first payment was due I rang to confirm if the auto monthly direct debit had been setup and was active. Was told it would be active on the next payment cycle. Therefore I setup a DD the pay the full amount, however Virgin also withdrew the full amount as the auto dd was active. 2 x $5K withdrawals out of my offset account!
Now the interesting part, Virgin admitted the fault was theirs, however refuse to refund the extra $5K after they initially said they would.
They supposedly can only refund the amount the account is is credit for, currently $2K. Also I had to wait for all pending transactions to complete and stop using the card. Then they will send out a cheque in 5-7days which will then take 3-5 days to clear. So 7 days of phone conversations with multiple stories/lies + 8-12days wait to get some of my money back. Very frustrating.

SSSHHHH!
Don't let kpc know that there are even more horrors ahead!

My application is still being " verified by the verifications team"
They have been calling my employer since early December as there is a large discrepancy between my declared gross annual income and the income they have had verified from my employer. On closer scrutiny they have verified my annual " take home pay" .
Exasperated today I have sent off another pay slip from last week showing that YTD gross vastly exceeds what they claim to have verified as an annual figure. Incidentally both figures are way more than the minimum income for the card .
Also sent off covering letter asking them to reduce my declared gross income to the YTD Gross on current pay slip. Hopefully this is close enough to not require further unanswered calls to my employer.
I am actually questioning my sanity right now
Good luck kpc :)

This sounds very similar to what they did with mine.

They some how got my income down to about $23,000, a figure that has no relevance or relationship to anything. I have rental income way above that let alone anything else.

I'll watch Princess Fiona's sanity level decrease for a little longer but suspect I won't bother to resurrect my application.

I think asking them to cancel your application is the way to go....this seems to make them even more determined to process your application ASAP. I cannot believe how incompetent the staff are...:shock:

For those still verifying income, when they asked about my dividend income I just sent them the relevant pages of my last tax return with private details redacted. No problems, and also no problems that I told them my annual pay was approx $30k more than the pay office has on their records.  Anyway points are banked, in fact this week was a good with this approx 80k points coming in between QF, DJ and Amex. :D

I agree on the horrors of the application, including the multiple calls from different people asking for the same information. Nevertheless we got our cards, and have now blown through the $7,500 with the second statement.

1 day later 50,000 points and 200SC land in my Velocity account. Now only 350SC away from requalifying Plat.

I'm guessing no existing card members has been able to get any joy of having this deal applied to them?

On a side note - in my experience, the Customer Care team has been okay - all they did was call my employer and I was on my way. With transaction disputes they've been straight forward. Way better than AMEX who after calling several times only to be told that I "needed to wait for my card it will come soon", stated there was a 'technical issue' and my card was in error status and was yet to be issued.

Approved :D
Finally, after initial application 28th November.
I rang them this morning and followed the advice of kpc asking them to cancel. Rep advised she couldn't cancel as my application was on hold. She would need to re-start the application to cancel it.
When she re-started it she advised me that they no longer needed to call my employer and the application would be approved.
15 minutes later approval email in inbox. Here's hoping the FF points and SC aren't anything like the same upheaval.

Thanks kpc :)

Well done for your persistence, Princess Fiona!!.....To be honest, I reached the point where I couldn't care less about the points given the frustrations in dealing with them. Having said that, the 200 SCs from the card (+ another 200 SCs from my +1s card approved months ago without verifying her income!), and another 300 SCs (flying on MH in July with all 5 family members pooling their pts and Scs to me) would get me very close to requlifying for DJ Plat!:lol:

You've got to get it activated yet
