I went to a restaurant on Tues night and used this card. Happy to see today that the restaurant was one of the 3 pp $ restaurants.

I applied about 5pm yesterday, SMS that I was approved received about 2pm this afternoon. Now to get the card and spend spend spend.

Activated mine on receipt and immediately used it to purchase some AA miles (with discount and bonus) for the spend required to get the bonus. Win-win :).

Whats the FX charge?!

Don't know. If I assume a 3% mark up on spot, still decent value for AA miles compared to offers over the past 6 months when you convert USc/mile to Ac/mile :) (and the fact that I have a use for these miles).

Interesting though; the purchase was confirmed by e-mail within a few minutes of purchase, and miles credited. But 6 hours later, the purchase still hasn't shown up on my Amex on-line account. Purchases on my CBA cards post almost immediately to Netbank.

Re: Best offer yet! AMEX Velocity Platinum with 110,000 bonus!

I cancelled my Amex issued card and applied this two weeks later and got the bonus!

Wow! That's impressive after they said you can't get it if you have had the card in the last twelve months.

I'm new to this but here's another 110,000 Virgin Amex Velocity Platinum card link

Hello everyone,

I know that there are now a lot of referral links on here for the Virgin Amex Velocity Platinum card which is currently offering 110,000 when you apply by 30 September 2015, are approved and spend $1000 on your new Card in the first 3 months of Card Membership.

Now I'm not a huge frequent flyer, I'm just an average person who would like some additional points to take the family on holiday, so if you would like to help me out, please use my referral link and we will both be happy campers!

To give a bit more information, I applied on the 6th July, was approved within 24 hours and received my card in the mail today (10th July), and already have the Virgin lounge vouchers in my Velocity account so I am very impressed with it!

Re: Yet another Velocity Amex 110,000 point offer!

Thanks for that. Hard for me though that I was first to post but noone has actually semed to use my link https://www316.americanexpress.com/...merHub&MGMURN=AAAABgQTHxoVFQ==&CPID=999999484 .

Or if they have I havent received the points!

Burmans, the issue is with how referral posts are posted, and your link is swamped amongst a sea of links from many people. There are better solution to this and I am making suggestions below:

Re: Yet another Velocity Amex 110,000 point offer!

I used burmans link to get the card and now I'm throwing my hat into the referral ring :)

Happy for anyone to use it:- https://www316.americanexpress.com/...merHub&MGMURN=AAAABgQTHA0JDw==&CPID=999999484

Just used your link, robd, since burmans seems to have had a few takers already so thought I'd share the love around a bit. Soon as I get my card, I too can toss my hat into the referral ring :) lets keep the merry-go-round going!

I spent the $1000 within an hour of receiving the card on Tuesday. I can see the bonus points in my Amex account but they have only credited 80,000 points. I guess I'll have to chase the other 30,000.

I did get 3 points per $ at a restaurant. I like that feature.

Can you tell us if you already had an AMEX card and if so, did you decalre it on application? Thanks - planning to apply but can't decide which way to go.

Yeah it takes a while on amex

<snip>

My AMEX account is showing the correct remaining balance but is not listing each transaction, some of these transactions are over 48 hours old now, is this normal? As all my other banking accounts show the transaction information almost instantly, even with pending statuses.

<snip>

At first I was really impressed at how slick the AMEX / VA tie up was. By the time the card arrived my VA account had ben credited with the lounge passes. I created an AMEX account on line and it all linked up well.

But now its about 36 hrs since a major first transaction (buying AA miles, which have credited to my AA account) and my AMEX account still shown no transactions on the phone application. I can't log-in on my laptop (page won't load). Not that fussed, just really surprised that the transaction didn't register over-night. I did a couple of domestic card payments today and they haven't appeared either. I guess I've been spoiled by CBA.

So if there's fraudulent transactions on one's AMEX card, you'll probably be oblivious for a few days?

I signed up Mrs citrusb through an earlier referral on the 80k, approved and card received on Wednesday.
Filled in online referral details so I can take up the offer on her link and we both win.
Question? how does her link come through, Amex say they email in few days? How did other FF's receive theirs and how long did it take....thanks
