Be patient burmans as it may take a month to post.

Re: Yet another Velocity Amex 110,000 point offer!

Same for me Burmans. I'll use your link but need to wait until I pass the 12month deadline.....
I hope you get your points as you were first in, best dressed.

Re: Velocity Amex -110,000 POINTS, return free flight,4 lounge passes, travel insuran

I started this thread when the referral bonus was only 80,000 points
http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ity-amex-80-000-points-68761.html#post1263006 but the offer has since increased to 110,000 points. I asked the Mods if they could update my original old thread and title to reflect the increase in the offer but they said I should start a new thread instead, so here it is. There was also a number of questions about the card I have answered throughout the old thread, so this opening post is an update of the offer and a summary of the answers I have given. I hope this post serves as a comprehensive summary of this card and incredible offer whether you use my link or not.

Smit- i found this offer by reading another post of yours. I've never paid >$100 for a c'card, but your comprehensive post convinced me it was worth it. Just applied, fingers crossed!
And thank you :-)

Re: Yet another Velocity Amex 110,000 point offer!

<snip>
But now its about 36 hrs since a major first transaction (buying AA miles, which have credited to my AA account) and my AMEX account still shown no transactions on the phone application. <snip>

Ho hum. Its now 3 x overnights since my first use of the AMEX (done on line at a USA site, Thursday our time) and 2 x overnights since my first domestic transaction (in-store at Coles on Friday) and still neither appear on-line, even as 'pending', although the available credit looks in the right ball park.

Again, not too fussed, as long as they appear soon, but seems a bit slack. Not one to travel with, by the look of it.

Each to their own, personally have found slow processing of transactions a good thing from time to time, particularly where slow processing means they are pushed into next billing cycle!

I spent the $1000 within an hour of receiving the card on Tuesday. I can see the bonus points in my Amex account but they have only credited 80,000 points. I guess I'll have to chase the other 30,000.

I did get 3 points per $ at a restaurant. I like that feature.

Ditto for me (only 80K bonus posting). Did you follow it up (phone #, e-mail?) ... any result, please?

I only got 80K points too, but then that's all I signed up for. I'd invest a phone call though, if anyone has better luck 'upgrading' to 110K points, plse let us know. ;)

Dare I suggest it - but it seems worthwhile a star "moderator" who shall remain nameless, may create a spreadsheet for logging the progress of the points feast. Similar to the Q upgrade bid one.

My suggested columns would be, "Date applied", "Referral Link Owner", "Any Amex direct ccs already?", "Any Amex via Bank ccs already?", "Success/failure", "Date notified", "Reason Given".

That way adopting the 'honesty' profile we can:
  • track who should receive a decent number of referral bonuses
  • track who's referral links work/don't work (perhaps some are flagged for refusal as auto check on that referrer created some flags for Amex - it happens where they don't want to increase risk of loss in family members)
  • track how quickly different referral links work (again my signal issues)
  • optimise the harvest while the sun shines.

Just a thought.

I just rang Amex. They are investigating and will credit the additional points within 3 days, assuming I haven't been telling porkies. I was surprised that I got through to an Australian call centre. Very efficient.

I too called AMEX (regular number on back of card); got a nice chap from Aussie call centre.

* The 'source code' indicating which offer had been responded to wasn't there, so he had to look it up manually;

* Surprised that ANY bonus points had been posted already (same day as the qualifying transaction posted, which was 4 days after actual transaction;

* He noted current offer is 100K points; I noted that offer I accepted was 110K points (I do hate haggling over these sorts of things) and had a screen shot of it (such a pity you have to do that sort of thing these days);

* He went off and spoke to marketing;

* Came back and said that marketing asked me to e-mail him the screen shot, which I have now done.

No problem with how it was handled on the phone, but not certain how this will pan out ... I'm sure I will get 20K points, might have to press for 10K more. 10K is a decent amount of points!

Hi burmans

SWMBO applied using your link a couple of minute ago and was instantly approved. I'm sure it won't take too long to spend the qualifying $1,000

Thanks for posting the link

Re: Yet another Velocity Amex 110,000 point offer!

Just used your link, robd, since burmans seems to have had a few takers already so thought I'd share the love around a bit. Soon as I get my card, I too can toss my hat into the referral ring :) lets keep the merry-go-round going!

Thanks Ghostdunks for the "love". Good luck with your application. You are the only one who has used my link, as far as I know.

My referral link is back at post #115 should anyone else care to apply.

Re: Yet another Velocity Amex 110,000 point offer!

ok, success! applied middle of last week and received card today. Have activated card etc but have another question. When signing up I did select the option to say that i didn't have a Velocity account already and I'm sure it said they would create and link one? How do i find out what my Velocity Membership number is and password so I can login through the Virgin website?

your velocity number is printed on the card... password I'm not sure

I don't believe anyone has used my link either, but its good to see that people are using various links, nice effort. I've been using the card for a few days now and found it good, have noticed it does take approx 48 hours to see transactions online.

Wow. They are going to have thousands of people ringing up to complain about missing out on their points if this is the norm. Amex is a sophisticated company- im surprised theyre screwing their customers over like this?!

If it were me, I'd join Velocity FF asap and then advise AMEX by phone asap after that.

Yeh decided to call them up and they did say to sign up with velocity and then call up with the membership number which i have now done. They linked the account and he mentioned that in "your account" i will see the velocity points and then at the end of each month points will be transferred across to the velocity. Hopefully all goes well and nothing doubles up
