Virgin Amex Velocity Platinum card now 110k points

I was concerned when they changed the bonus half way through the promo. Anyway, my points swept into my Velocity account today.

I friend told me they appklied for the 110k deal and hit $500 min spend and 80,000 points have been added to their account. It was supposed to be 110k points for $1000 spend.

I suspect the glitch is that people who applied for the 110k deal have been registered for the 80k deal. I doubt theyll automatically add the 30k when they hit $1000 spend. As I said before, this is a very popular card and Amex are going to have many unhappy customers if the back end of their slick campaign doesn't work like they promised it would.

On a separate note, this person used my referral link. On the 80k offer the referral bonus points would post very quickly after the person was approved for the card but I haven't had any referral points posted since July 1 (and no I havent reached my limit yet). Im thinking the timing of the referral points changed when the offer did (and may be related to this glitch of people only receiving 80k points when they applied for the 110k points offer). Has anyone received referral points since July 1?

On my wifes card (she didn't sign up with a referral), she has been given 10k points (hasn't hit 1k spend yet). She referred me and I've been approved and card activated. 10k not 20

I wonder if our friends at Virgin (VFF) could do anything to help our situation, being a Virgin co-branded AMEX one would think so..... must be 20+ of us here that are all going to have the same problem (110k point applications).

Even if we could have an issue registered and be able to quote a call/issue reference so we all aren't starting cold...

I've personally put $1500+ through my card in the first few days post activation, 80k posted and nothing since (other than regular spend points).

I would think that AMEX may be do more about this problem if everyone called AMEX on their own behalf as that creates a look of a much bigger problem that needs to be dealt with quickly before it gets even bigger.

Send AMEX the screen print too if possible. or, they may ask for it to be emailed to the agent you speak to.

On a separate note it would be nice if Virgin waived the CC fee when you used this card to book flights wouldn't it? (I started a thread on this a while back).

I haven't either. I know of at least one person who kindly applied using my referral link since July 1 and seemed to have instant approval online and nothing has posted yet. Last referral bonus received was late June

I asked the Mods if they could update my original old thread and title to reflect the increase in the offer but they said I should start a new thread instead, so here it is. There was also a number of questions about the card I have answered throughout the old thread, so this opening post is an update of the offer and a summary of the answers I have given. Thank you for your original link. I clicked through and applied online Sunday 5/7/15 at night. Received a text message the following morning saying it had been approved. Just received the card today 15/7/15, and was lucky I think. I had just moved residential premises and have a mail redirection in place to my PO Box. It was delivered despite the instructions on the envelope saying that it should NOT be re-directed.

The application process was very easy. I am self-employed and no call was made to my accountant. I also took up the ANZ Black fee-free offer +25000 QF points in Dec 2014, which I will be cancelling before it comes up for renewal.

My extra 30,000 also arrived today following a phone call on Monday. I wasn't asked to send a screen shot although I did say I had one.
