Will Qantas Offer Double Status Credits before Mooted FF Program Changes in 2024?

I would suspect something is coming soon.

I’m back on the road and suits are very few and far between and lounges are empty. I can book my flights the week before and still get discount fares atm. I’ve had colleagues get op ups on the Syd lhr route on points for their personal travel. JAN seems remarkably quiet for QF.

There’s got to be something soon unless there’s a wave of forward bookings for Feb and March already booked

Outside of peak seasonal tourist locations (like cherry blossoms in Japan), I suspect the cost of living crisis is catching up with people. Also most people have likely done their revenge travelling coming out of covid so I would suspect the books are a bit emptier now.

I predict we get a bulk points release (like a few months ago) first before a DSC offer drops in.

I’d expect it in March, talking to others where I work plenty of us haven’t flown much. Not really sure why other than things a bit flat.

I’m platinum and haven’t gotten on a QF plane for 3 months, but am tomorrow. I do expect to fly more QF but let’s see how the DSC options work out.

It is very typical to be quieter at this time of year which can be hard to explain to North American companies

It’s the high yielding corporate pax that are the backbone of the QF domestic business rather than price sensitive leisure travellers. If the lounges aren’t back in full swing in two weeks time it could be telling. I just get the vibe, as they say, that forward bookings are weak but I could be way off and QF are very happy with their pipeline. As always, DSC offers are pure speculation.

Every time a sale is finishing some hope a DSC is about to start. I wouldn’t expect a DSC till at least February when most people are back from holiday.

Recent history tells us last week of March is the most likely time for a general DSC/DP offer. The aim is to stimulate forward bookings, Jan-Feb is always a bit of a lull in business travel.

The current promo period is until end Feb (iirc), I still have one upcoming booking under it - perhaps we won't see anything until that's up (at least).

Yep - the 2023 promo was “eligible Qantas flights booked between 23 March and 28 March 2023 for travel between 29 March 2023 and 28 February 2024.”

We won’t see anything until at least the 1st of March (oh hang on… leap year; so 29 Feb is possible also), or not for the promotion travel period commencement date, anyway.

Cheers,
Matt.

Possibly. Although one wonders if they put that limitation on travel just to prevent someone from booking a Qantas flight during the promotional period (23 March - 28 March) which cannot be ticketed (i.e. I believe you can only book flights less than a year out at least on the Qantas site).

The real question is when will the other shoe drop with Qantas (aka FF program changes)? My guess is it will likely be occurring around the same time as that.

That will come the day after the DSC promotion closes and everyone has booked, and the first change will be a reduction in SC earn for all QF operated and marketed flights by 50% 🤓🤪

I already have 65 flights booked and paid for between Feb and Oct this year, so if a DSC comes along I likely won't be booking anything departing before October.

Let's see if and when it happens (I have no predictions).
