Woolworths gift card thread

Speaking of - is there any limit on self-checkout at Woolies in terms of how much cash/coins I can use? Ideally, I'd like to "liquidate" this change into valuable Apple gift cards at the present 20x bonus offer. I'm aware that some bank machines, namely CommBank can handle such large quantities of change but I'm not a CommBank customer nor do I have any inclination of opening up yet another bank account.
Update: I just brought a heap of one dollar, two dollar and half dollar coins into Woolies and proceeded to spend the next 5 minutes feeding the self serve machine coins to pay for the $100 iTunes gift card. It ended up being that I miscounted and was $1.50 short so I elected to use the option to pay the remainder by card. So far as I can tell, there does not appear to be a set limit on how many coins you can use on those self-serve machines (presumably it would start complaining when the coin trays are filled).

Some advice for those intending to cash in their coins for valuable gift cards via self-checkout:
  • If the machine spits out your coin, chances are it's not the coin that are bad, it's that the self serve machine cannot currently accept anymore coins as it is going through the coins you just dumped into it. Wait a couple of moments (i.e. when the clinging dies down on the machine) and try again
  • Ignore the balance due and amount deposited in since those values are by definition out of date as the machine is still coping with the quantity of coins you have put in it. As a general rule of thumb, I'd wait 15 seconds after depositing that last coin to conclusively say whether the balance shown is accurate.
Hope this advice proves useful for those looking to liquidate their coins at Woolies.

Same here. At 3.6%, it's not even worth it for a fuel gift card since the discount on the Essentials card (via RACQ) is 4% and this covers fuel.

Same offer as well. It's a hard pass on me given the low return. Guess I'll keep feeding my coins into the self-serve checkout to get Apple Gift Cards.

Another $350 Essentials GC added to my wallet just now :).

You don't have access to a better discount via a car club, for instance?
I do and in fact just bought almost $2K worth of GCs on the weekend via RACQ and Amex gaining 3x Amer MR points and 4% discount on the cards.

But I was happy to take 2500 EDR points and forgo the 4% discount this time as I am now less than 7K QFF points off re-qualifying PC+ before the end of September. We use the Essentials cards for all supermarket shopping, as well as any Big-W and fuel purchases when accepted. So happy to have the Essentials GCs sitting in the phone wallets while timing my PC+ re-qualification pretty much perfectly for my QFF anniversary.

Not sure what happened when I made a purchase at lunch time today via the Father’s Day link, the checkout didn’t include an option to enter my rewards number and I thought it might have appeared after I made my purchase via PayPal, but it didn’t.
I checked again now and now the field to enter rewards card is showing! Very odd.

I too noticed that it was missing so I stopped the transaction and instead purchased through the Rewards app to be sure.

Uber & Uber Eats were just added to the TCN Him gift card (along with the TCN Gift, Ultimate Everyone and Ultimate Him cards).

For those who weren't already aware, you can actually use Uber gift cards to pay for rides and orders that you made up to 30 days ago. You just add the gift cards to your Uber account and then switch the payment method to use your Uber credit for each item in your purchase history. Your original payment method will be refunded.

Do TCN cards get added as credit, like normal uber gift vouchers, or just like a normal credit card payment method?

Picked up a $300 Apple gift card at Big W and can confirm the 20x bonus points. Indeed the points landed into my QF account before I even left the shopping centre. With that being said, I'm now at a point where I think I need to slow down on the gift card purchasing as I currently got $1100 in Apple gift cards over 6 gift cards now and Apple only lets you use 8 of them in a single transaction. Supposing Apple keeps the iPhone 15 pricing the same as the 14, I'll only have to shell out at most $299 out of pocket.

You can add up to $4,999 of gift cards to your Apple account balance and pay using that plus another eight unredeemed gift cards on top. Gift card limits for Apple purchases really only become a concern when you're buying something worth ~$9k+, and even then there are ways around it (consolidating gift cards at an Apple Store, for example).
