Business class booked with points, No SC's

Most domestic flights have the on the ear type headphones in business, the same as the economy ones. Coast to coast flights (and trans tasman) normally have over the ear type headphones in business, but they aren't active noise cancelling. You might get noise cancelling head phones on a domestic...

Best J seats on QF INT A330

There isn't really a lot in it. I prefer a window seat so usually go for 1A in both the 200 and 300s. Usually end up with a free seat next to me. The 300s have 5 rows in one J cabin. The international 200s have 2 mini cabins with 3 rows each. On the 200 the second J cabin is usually a bit...

Crazy ex-MNL CX J SC 'Giveaway'

Interesting offer. Although I note in the small print it does say "Fares do not include taxes and surcharges." Even so might still be worthwhile.

Flight Availability/Loadings & Upgrade Probability Help Desk

Re: Upgrade chances on flight to Asia. What airline or airlines are you flying with? No airline currently flies from BNE to CTS direct. You mention you are a QF platinum, but Qantas doesn't fly to CTS. You could take QF to Hong Kong, Shanghai or Tokyo, then connect to CTS with another airline.

"Ibis Budget" Hotel Auckland Airport [was Formule 1]

There is a shuttle bus that leaves every 15 minutes or so. The thing to watch out for is that it does not leave from the same area as the other hotel shuttle buses. As the hotel is in the grounds of the airport it uses the 'park and ride' shuttle bus. So look out for the park and ride shuttle...

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

I got an upop last Friday QF125 BNE-AKL. I had already checked in online so went to the check in desk at BNE to get an express pass and have my passport sighted. The woman behind the desk did sight my passport and the machine spat out another boarding pass which was still 4A. Then the unusual...

"Ibis Budget" Hotel Auckland Airport [was Formule 1]

re: "Ibis Budget" Hotel Auckland Airport [was Formule 1] I stayed at this hotel on Monday and it has now been rebranded as a Ibis budget hotel. Other than the change of brand not much else has changed, prices seem to have stayed the same. Still good value for money.

Flights late after Jetstar forgets daylight savings in NZ

Jetstar forgets daylight savings | Stuff.co.nz I know Jetstar takes a lot of flack, some rightly and some wrongly. But this is seems to be shear incompetence.

Security - what's the most senseless confiscation?

I use to have two screwdrivers in my laptop bag one was a small phillips head 00 and the other a big phillips head 2. I use to go through security with them no worries. Then one day in Melbourne I got caught out at the x-ray. The 00 head screw driver was fine, however the phillips head 2...

    Jetstar points

I had one recent Jetstar 3K flight. Waited 3 weeks for the points to post and they didn't. So submitted a missing points claim and it was approved after 4 hours.

    Lounge access in DPS.

On arrivals there is a transit desk situated to the right just before you get to the visa on arrivals and immigration desks. I can recall a single desk with a few airline logos. Not sure if as a Virgin passenger she would be able to go through there. Worth a try at least. Otherwise she would...

    Lounge access in DPS.

Yes Virgin use the the premier lounge at DPS. Passengers travelling in J will get access as well as those with Virgin Velocity gold or platinum. Is quite a good little lounge by Indonesian standards. Although wifi is charged. Although she may had trouble checking in early. When I was there a...

    Brisbane Airport....disabled access?

There have been a lot of changes at BNE recently, but from what I recall of the current and final setup is as follows. The closest lane to the terminal is for taxi pickups. The next lane out is for taxi drop offs. Going out further is a lane for limo services. Then finally you get to the public...

Qantas to Close First Class Lounge in Singapore

Of course Emirates have a business/first lounge in terminal one at SIN. And from what I understand from the new partnership Qantas passengers will get access to it. The food is usually very good in the Emirates lounge.

    Best/Worst Kebab you've found at 2am?

Best would have to be a kebab shop on High road, North Finchley, London, UK. They made the tastiest shish kebabs I have ever had. Worst would have to be at a stall in the Xi'an, China. It was described as an arab burger, which I guess is roughly correct. The meat just tasted weird, not sure...

    Co-ordinating flights with a cruise

I have frequently changed business fares on MH. Ultimately it comes down to the type of fare you have booked, but even some of their business saver fares are quite changeable. One thing to be aware of if you change on the day of the flight they treat it like a no show and I think there was a $50...

    Jakarta Lounges (CGK)

At Jakarta, Qantas use the JAS Executive Lounge. I have also managed to get access to the lounge as a QF platinum one travelling on Jetstar to Singapore. Thought I would have been turned down for sure, but the woman on the front desk seemed to have no trouble with it- she just took my card...
