    Bronze QFF travel experience maximisation

Really all bronze that allows you over a non FF passenger is the ability to earn frequent flyer points and status credits. One new benefit is that the new bronze FF cards that will come soon will have the Q card chip inside them. So you'll be able to use the next-gen Q card readers to check in...

    Advice Re: Terminating Employment

When I have resigned I have let my employers know why I was resigning. Mainly as courtesy to them rather than any obligation. Most of the time it was to accept a better offer from a rival company. Twice after hearing I was going to a rival they have put me on gardening leave. Which to me worked...

Which lounges to use when travelling business class on Malaysian Airlines

What time is your departure from MEL? If it is the afternoon then the Qantas Business lounge is probably the best choice. If it is the late night departure then the Qantas lounge is shut, so you'll have to go with the Malaysian or Cathay lounge. Probably not a great deal between the two. At KUL...

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

Why do you think it was an opup? It just seems like a free upgrade. If it is done for operational reasons then it is an opup. What you describe would be quite rare for that to happen unless there are some sort extenuating circumstances. Otherwise everyone would be asking the CSM for an upgrade...

Google Glass for airlines: what you'd see wearing 'smart specs'

Although it is not Google Glass. I am starting to find Google Now on Android very useful for travelling. It provides a lot of useful information based on the context it knows about you. Like providing you with the exchange rate from local currency to AU$, the local weather, flight status and a...

Time required in OOL for domestic to international transfer?

If as you mentioned it is booked as two separate tickets then I doubt Jetstar would check your bags all the way through to NRT. They normally don't interline to/from domestic Jetstar flights. So you would have to arrive at OOL. Wait for you bags that might take 5 to 20 minutes. Maybe 5 minutes...

    Bangkok -Clark

'Best deal' is subjective, different people can judge a deal differently. Are you wanting the cheapest fare? Or is there some of criteria that is important to you? SEAIR (part owned by Tiger airlines) also fly daily from Bangkok to Clark. Otherwise you might have to considering connecting in KL...

    Manila

Although Manila does suffer from crime and to a lessor extent terrorism, if you are careful and use common sense it can be safe. First time I went there I was a bit cautious But each subsequent time I have been more relaxed, but still using common sense and there are some areas I avoid. As...

    Free wi-fi in travellers' sights

You could make the same argument why offer free electricity, air con and free water in the hotel room. The hotel will lose money by not charging separately for these either. These are bundled with the room and people would be turned off if they where charged separately. For some people to have...

JQ gets some competition ex PER/BNE to MNL

Cebu Pacific will start getting some A330s later this year. There first destination is set to be Dubai. But Australia always seems to pop up as a potential future destination. Maybe they'll put on a service to the Gold Coast as that seems to be Australia's LCC hub.

ran out of food in business class

I have had it two times where they ran out of business class meals on Qantas flights. One of the times I feel asleep during meal time so when I woke up there was nothing left. Also the flight had been delayed 24 hours because the original plane went technical, so possible they didn't have a...

    737 Row 1 Business

At 1.85 cm I find the first row ok, if I was any taller it would be uncomfortable. Also part of the lockers above row 1 seems to be taken up with equipment. So row 2 an be a good choice. If you get one of the modern 737s with personal video screens often row 3 can be good. Some 737s have seat...

Smart Gate - how popular is it?

Yeah a few times at Brisbane especially early in the morning when several wide bodies arrive together the queue for the smart gates can get a very long. It can also get confusing as there are multiple lines for the kiosks and just one line for the smart gates. I have seen a few people join the...

    Unequal OW access

But did you get access to the first class area? That's what you are entitled to as a Oneworld Emerald. As you enter business class lounge is on the left and first class on the right. Even Malaysian first class passengers don't get access to the platinum room, unless they actually have MH...

    Where to buy Duty Free?

But surely if the OP is buying only a 50ml perfume as they indicated then it should be fine as far as liquids go for inbound to Australia. As long as the container is 100ml or lower they should be able to take in on board with them. Restrictions for inbound flights to Australia

QF135 MEL-AKL what is immigration queues at 0600hrs?

It is really the only flight leaving at that time, an hour to the next closest flight. It is only a 737 so maybe 150 passengers if it is full. They will probably have two (or three) immigration staff on, I would expect immigration to go fairly quickly.

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Re: Best Status Run Options - A quick overview! If you are that far short I am not sure it is worth it. Qantas club membership might be a cheaper option. Unless of course there is some particular benefit you are after that is specific to Oneworld that you don't get from Qantas club membership.

Changi T4 to debut in 2017

I think the significant thing was that they will now have airside buses, while before it was only landside buses to the budget terminal. So with the new terminal passengers will be able to transfer to the other terminals without having to clear customs and immigration. Which is at least more...

    Hawker food at Changi

Other than the staff canteen there is a proper hawker centre in Changi at Changi village down by the ferry wharfs. Maybe 5-10 minutes away from the airport by taxi. It has just been upgraded recently. Great for getting a fix of chilli crab.

Sydney To Gold Coast Which Flight Please

I have no particular experience with Gold Coast flights. But you are flying on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Typically these are two of the quietest days of the week. Of course there might always be some special event on, but I would expect these flights to be fairly lightly loaded.
